How to reduce and improve on the sound of the door slamming?

Hi guys, just need some advise.

Lately, I find it kinda unpleasant to my ears with the sound of my car door slamming. I was wondering what can be done to improve or reduced that kind of impact and sound on my car doors? Will it be costly? :hmmmm:

For example, for those who is driving or been on a Toyota Camry latest model before, when u close the door, u dun hear much of a "BANG" sound. I'm looking and just wondering if there are any ways to improve my car doors to be as silent as possible.

Even if I close my door softly, it still has the slamming door kind of sound if u get what I mean.

Please do advise Bros and friends of ZTH.

u use black pvc tape & tape around the door hinge the "U" shaped ones u get a door virgin feel hehe.

there is a hinge that your doors lock rite? located on the side of door,
there is a "U" hinge on the body chasis......u tape that part...makes your door feel tight....when u close it also nicer...

SF...yah yah...issit all doors or oni 1? the older the car gets, the more it sounds like empty tin milo drop on floor when close door 1 la...i think it's cos the rubber lining around the door not as supple as baby bumbum. everyday kena burn under the sun, soft soft oso become hard hard n kecut kecut la...my door rubber lining aredy like ah soh punya bumbum after so many years kena sun bake.

Ya, when the door shuts, it sounded like "Klong..." Sound like a Empty Thin when it is knocked on..

Using tape? Will try that Danz Bro, sounds like a good idea and also I think maybe the door frame rubbers all not so good adi like Arturo said...really dun like the sound of that...makes the car sound old :frown:

Will go back and check all doors if it sounded the same...I was inside the car when the door closed.

the first 1 i saw selling at Daiso...rm5 but i dun think the adhesive will last. the D shaped rubber strip sounds promising...but hell expensive for something so simple...

SF...i agree with u...normally ownself wont slam door...when i bring my family in my car...they sure slam hard hard..but not cos angry...but habit. our family car is that '86 E28 mah...so the doors heavy and need a Malek Noor energy to close the doors...so when they sit my car leh...Malek Noor energy + EG doors = SLAM! whole car oso shake. watudu la...

Danz....i tried yr method...bought a roll of electrical tape rm0.60 and started to tape the [ at the B pillar for drivers side...really got effect ler. now door when close it does sounds tighter! but tin milo still kena buang on floor la cos door rubber aredy hard hard. understandeable la...metal on my door oso like tin milo hahahha. later strike lottery baru go pasang dynamat la.

arturo: dynamat is it those door rubber? I think for 5 years car and sometimes under the sun, time to change liao gua...but I ask before from UMW is not cheap...one door the whole rubber cost RM200 - RM300+. One of my doors the rubber coming off adi...due to the heat I suppose...looks melted :frown:

Btw, I think shud sealed up all 4 doors la then masuk from window. Got pro and cons la

Bro, if stick those tape, after some time, will the tape come off? then the whole U hinge thing will look ugly and sticky? Since is just a tape, with friction after a long period I think will peel off slowly then the gum all stick there. Is it?

SF...dynamat is like those butyl mats that u stick onto the inner side of the door sheet metal. it'll make yr door metal thicker(in a way) and have a lower resonance frequency...imagine if u drop a piece of door sheet metal on the floor...will sound like *KLANG KLING KLONG* rite? now imagine if u stick something like a piece of rubber mat all over the door sheet metal and drop it on the floor...it'll sound like *THUD* cos the metal now is thicker n more solid mah. as far as i know, dynamat xtreme is the best and a box will cost about rm800-rm900 and should be enough for 4 doors. not sure what exactly is made out of but should be something like butyl...imagine thick thick tar?

the door rubber i was talking about is the rubber lining around the door edges to prevent water from coming in mah...the older the car, the less supple(remember the baby bumbum?) it gets loh...so the older the car, the more it sounds like tank door closing. if u ever noticed...new cars always have that *WHOOOMP* sound when close door....but old cars almost always have that *KA KLANG* sound when close door mah.

also no need worry about sticky mess the tapes leave behind...spray a little WD-40 on it..leave it a while then use yr fingernail to scrape it off....then use soap water to wash off the WD-40...kautim! any sticky mess left behind WD-40 oso can clean off...reminds me of 1 time...i drove over a chewing guy rite at the edge of my tyre....then the gum still fresh out of the mouth *yuck* so u can imagine the mess it made...the whole side of my car splattered with gum...my rims all kena and my tyre well all kena...sprayed WD-40 and wiped off slowly then wash off with soap water...no mess left at all...

and now to the most important part...the mini skirts...my fetish ler...u dun la remind me of mini skirts early early in the morning...summore is friday. a lot of miniskirts running around here ler. die la how to concentrate la now....

My altis also got the hollow door sound but only for front doors.... rear door ok. Guess cause the front door is larger, more surface area for the sound to resonate? lol.

Anyone got idea ? only dynamat can solve >

yeah after a while the tape will eventually rip off...but u just change it...
follow arturo's method........for hatchbacks, sometimes will hear some squeeky sound at the rear...actually its coming from the rear boot....after put the electrical tape, sound dissapears.....
