KUALA LUMPUR: Police have picked up a prominent political analyst attached with a politically well-connected think-tank for questioning over the gruesome murder of a Mongolian model whose body was blown to bits.

The man, who is in his 40s, was taken from his office in Ampang here by several policemen at about 10am yesterday.

The private think-tank conducts research and prints publications on politics, economics, defence and international relations.

The analyst is being detained at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman where he is assisting a special task force set up to probe the murder of 28-year-old Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The analyst is expected to be remanded today.

Altantuya, who goes by the name Anna and said to be a stunning beauty from Ulaanbaatar, arrived in Kuala Lumpur about a month ago.

She reportedly went missing about three weeks ago.

Sources said a report lodged by her sister and cousin led to the arrest of three police personnel – a chief inspector, a woman detective and a corporal with the Special Action Force or SAF, more commonly known as the Unit Tindakan Khas.

The corporal is part of a pool of SAF members used to guard VIPs and other dignitaries.

All three police personnel have been remanded by the police.

Yesterday, magistrate Azniza Mohd Ali ordered the remand of the corporal while the chief inspector and woman detective were remanded on Thursday.

On Monday, more than 40 police officers, including those from the Forensic Department, went to the crime scene at Subang Dam, Puncak Alam in Selangor, where they found bone fragments believed to be that of Altantuya in some bushes.

Police believe she was shot twice and her body blown to bits.

It is understood that C4 explosives were used to blow up her body in an effort to destroy evidence.

C4 or Composition 4 is a common but powerful explosive used for demolition work.

Police are said to be putting together the circumstances that led to Altantuya visiting the man at his house here, where she was said to have confronted him.

They said the police also wanted to find out whether the man had summoned three police officers to take Altantuya away from the house.

Her sister and cousin lodged police reports when Altantuya did not return after leaving her hotel on Oct 19.

She was staying at Hotel Malaya in Jalan Hang Lekir.

Sources said police also wanted to know when the man and the Mongolian model first met and whether there was any sexual relationship between them and if he had fathered a son with the woman.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said he had ordered a thorough investigation to be conducted and promised that there would be no cover-up.

“Whoever is involved would be brought to book regardless of his stature.

“I am also going to find out how and who authorised the issuance of the explosives used in the murder,” he said.

Damn....first, there is a lady who the body was burned then now this lady has been blow to bits by C4.. what has the world becoming.....

The analyst is Abdul Razak Baginda.

The case was supposed to be covered up when another police investigation team got involved, and the media got wind of it. So, the cover up tak jadi.

The unit tindak khas personnel involved in this case isn't from Badawi's security detail, it's from someone else's.. someone close (hint hint). If you guys follow local politics, you know which top politician is ARB's good friend.

At the end of the day, I think it'll all be covered up again. ARB will be off the hook, the UTK guy will take the fall, and everything will be well and fine again in Bolehland.:mouth_closed: :mouth_closed: :mouth_closed:

Or maybe after a few days, somehow they'll say that the girl is a mongolian jihadist suicide bomber, and she blew herself up.. and the cops were snooping around trying to locate an al-Qaeda cell when the girl triggered her suicide vest.. :sarcastic:

Chinese boy case wasn't a cover-up. DPPs were trying their best to get their hands on that guy.

But the police bungled up and contaminated the crime scene, and they didn't follow forensics procedures. Ended up, the evidence were questionable and almost not admissible.

After they couldn't prove beyond reasonable doubt (a requirement for criminal cases, but not civil cases), the AG Chambers have to let the guy off the hook. They planned for a re-trial, but that guy ran off to the US or somewhere. Cannot subpoena him back here. Meanwhile his two other bodyguards have become multi millionaires.

The strange thing is that the defense lawyers were expecting to be called for defense on that case. And suddenly, the judge just threw the case out, saying that there's insufficient evidence, etc. and that's how they unexpectedly won the case. They charged the bad guys an arm and a leg for legal services nevertheless.

The man is evil. The act of deliberately plotting the death of another human being for selfish aims is right there with the most heinous of crimes.

There needs to be justice. Corruption is one thing but if there is cover up on this because of some powerful people involved, they and us have to start looking at ourselves; What kind of leaders and politicians do we have that would allow such evil deeds to go unpunished?

Its actually a stupid act using a bomb to cover up the murder. In malaysia, bomb is not something that u can buy from the shelf. Only certain bodies have the access to it (army, police). So if you used C4 or grenade, it will trace back to you easily.

Sliced bread, the sound of lambs playing in the springtime meadows for the first time and the discovery of Penicillin, they’re about the only things that garnered more positive headlines than the new Audi TT 2-litre. Now we have the soft-top version, and so do the tuners.

There are bigger names on the map than Nothelle, which has carved its own niche since Rolf Nothelle set up shop in 1967 in Duisburg, but the company is well respected, slickly presented and they turned over the keys...
