Hi Sifu's,

would like to check, i'm thinking to change my tyre size from 215/50R17 to 215/45R17, but according to the recommended size change, the new size would be more than >3% difference, so will there be any bad effect except for like speedo inaccurancy?

215/45R17 is much easier to find and cheaper by a lot...so thinking to change to this size only if its recommended..

Normally when more by 3% there is more concern. Like scrub fender, power lost, high fc and harder to brake at high speed.
If smaller by 3%, main thing is your car will look funny or awful with small wheels. Check your car clearance from the ground especially if have skirting and body kits
Probably you are better off with 225/45R17 which is 1.93% smaller but tyres are more expensive also....:smokin:

Not recommended coz the tire is starting to get a bit thin (only 9.67cm sidewall vs 10.75cm on your current size) and there'll be a noticeable drop in ride comfort due to this >1 cm drop in sidewall height. So I suggest you to just stick with it. If you cannot afford such tire size then downgrade the rims to smaller 16' diameter.

Btw what's your car?

Hi Guys, basically why i'm asking this as the tyre price for 215/50R17 Vs 215/45R17 difference is quite big, around RM 70-80/pc.

225/45R17 price is similar to 215/50R17.

Btw, my ride is Inspira and i'm on stock suspension.

215/45R17 is very common size that is why it is cheaper, a lot of choices, models and brands.
However this size is too small for the inspira. Try getting cheaper brand tyres.

Or try swapping with bro. Izso, he is on 215/45R17 trying to change to 215/50R17......hahhahahhaha

Yeap, just buy cheaper brand tires but still value for money, like the GT Radial HPY. If still cannot afford that, then sorry dude, you just don't deserve to use 17' rims.

is not because of budget issue la, is just finding if possible to downsize abit see possible or not. As 215/45 is much easier to find compare to 215/50.

Well, i think i'll just stick back to 215/50R17 then. change to 225/45R17 if can't find the stock.

Thanks for the input guys.

215/50R17 is quite common also but not as much as 215/45R17 only. 225/45R17 also have but this size even more expensive.

Just check 215/50R17 size have for New Tyre Brand "Rovelo" model Sports A1, below RM300

HPY are GT UHP tyres and most come in at 45 series and lower. 50 series for 17" only have 225/50 and 235/50

Good, then you can choose very good tires like Michelin PS3 or GY F1-D5 for that size.
IMHO don't be skimpy on tires coz they're the ones that contact the road, and can make the difference between you having an accident and avoiding one.

Aiyah! in that case actually no need to ask to change to 215/45R17 because both tyres have the size.
Try OS Autocare in Shah Alam for RE-003

You want more comfort mah! but some tyre shop mentioned 215/50 for your ride maybe will scrub fender. But 205/50 may not differ much from your 215/45 woh!
