hey guys

im looking at changing the suspension in my 04 airtrek, i am currently running H&R Springs on the factory struts, it has asthetically made the car look better, but handling, not alot better than factory so looking to upgrade to adjustable suspension.
My question is does anyone out there know if suspension from another model of evo works in the airtrek? ive heard rumours of evo4 suspension is the same and same with evo7 stuff can anyone confirm this?

any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Its a pity all the threads on airtreker.com were lost, as im sure this was covered. Im sure the fronts OR the rears fit but cant remember what. In nz adjustbles require a certification so i wont b doing it. Maybe try some chasis stiffining like anti roll bars and strut braces. There is a ultra racing supplier in nz. Try them for strut braces etc. Far cheaper than adjusties + a cert, for that ur looking at about $2k

Spent the weekend comparing struts etc.....

Fronts are the same, but rears are different, look similar to a legnum rear setup :( not sure about the springs. tein and cobra make lowering springs, but the H & Rs went a little lower, and are progressive rate, they improved the handling but think im just used to them now and want more low :D ended up just ordering some BC golds as i have a warrant guy that will just ignore the adjustables

price on springs were $380 trade cost through george stocks, but i was lucky enough that there was a set in the country, otherwise theyre ex germany.

stamen - could maybe look at doing a swap plus cash for springs if you were interested

chubster - do you know whosupplies the ultra racing gear?

wyzeup.. thanks but no, I just want to drop it a bit, not too low.
just got my tyres in yesterday, they also quoted jamex springs 399$ installed.
magandturbo quoted me 675$ for tein springs installed/alignment/camber adjust.

ok no worries man, theyre only a 40-45mm drop, all of the others only claim a 30mm drop, just wanted a swap incase get caught out on adjustables.

so chubster your interested in working out a trade bro?

Maybe a bit late in the thread but to confirm a few details:-

Springs for an Evo 4 will definitely fit an Airtrek turbo (Evo 4 king low's in mine - remember to trim the bump stops a bit when fitting...)

Front struts will also fit but rear will not fit (different mounting at bottom of strut)

Not 100% sure about later evo springs being the same as Evo 4, but GregM ran Evo 7 Tein springs in his Airtrek.

Some helpful info thanks man :) I wonder if super lows would work?

Chubster: was thinking round the $300. Yeah I've got spring clamps etc…but is a mission w just hand tools but can be done. I'm in Hamilton.
