Live Coverage 2: Sepang 1000km Race - Less Than 20 Laps To Go
June 6, 2009

Our coverage of the Sepang 1000km Race continues with the second and final update before the end of the race. We’re currently at lap 153 out of the total of 182 laps which add up to 1000km. As you read this Kegani Racing is still in the Class 2 lead lead with a time of 2.43.416, a good two seconds off their best lap of 2.41.483 and they are heading the field. In second place for Class 2 is the unnamed Team #39 with a lap time of 2.44.789. their best lap stands at 244.423. The Proton R3 racing team is currently third with a time of 2.48.440 and a best lap of 2.47.146. Thats how the podium is shaping up to be for Class 2.
For Class 1, the Type R racing team is still heading the class with a time of 2.45.050, a far cry from their best lap of 2.41.829 in their Integra DC2 race car. Second in the class is the Satria GTI of team #86 headed by Ser Ming Hui. They are lapping at 2.49.259 and recorded a best lap of 2.45.421. Running strong to claim the third step on the podium are Pentagon J’s Racing Integra DC2 with a time of 2.45.722 and a team best of 2.42.412.
The safety car was forced out about two hours ago and that brought everybody closer together and that really made the race interesting. But the positions remained and that’s testament on how strong everyone’s running. All teams are running strong and the podium steps seem set unless of course a mechanical failure or a undeserved accident forces them out. Watch out for the final update on the final results and all the pictures and videos from the day. I apologise for the lack of pictures cause I’m short of time. Watch this space. Read more
