ZTH downtimes...

Is it just me or has ZTH.com been down more often than up lately? I try to login from different pcs, home, office, or cc. Always the same. Can't even come in to check my PMs sometimes.

Everytime i try to login, it's either really slow or totally down. It's sad. :(

Maybe its time to consider a new webhost...

I really don't mean to offend, Tom. And I think you're doing a great job with ZTH. from when I first joined till now. A malaysian car community forum was a great idea, and you've brought it so far... we can go so much further. But if your webhost can't cater to you and your forummer's needs, maybe it's time to look elsewhere.. Just my 2 cents :)

4mbps dedicated line , P4 dedicated server with 2GB ram , still not enough ?.

haha maybe tom really needs to get a dual xeon with 8GB ram and cluster server to make you satisfied ?

I beg to differ... no other webhost can cater ZTH than Fivio. You can go ahead and ask Tom to host elsewhere... the cost of extra bandwidth + additional support for server downtimes will make ZTH a member-paying only site just to cover costs.

Sometimes the dowtime that you experienced was because of server extensive usage.

Currently ZTH is not is a shared hosting enviroment. Meaning it is not on the NORMAL webhosting package. ZTH is a single user in a dedicated server. Like vestax said, 2 GB and 2.8 Ghz with HT suppose will overkill forum. But ZTH is exceptional.

And regarding the bandwitdh. 4 Mbps is a hell lot of data transfer. It would be around 4000 GB worth of data. Note, 3.8 Mbps is average.

i knew this was going to happen. i say something, and someone makes a sarcastic remark to me. i didn't do this to make enemies. just posting something about a problem i'm experiencing.

i know you guys are working hard to keep it up and deal with zth's problems. i'm just voicing up. keep up the good work and i hope you guys settle these problems soon. the corrupt image thing is getting quite annoying... :(

Yes. But not everyone wants a pay-only site. In fact, a pay-only site will ensure 100% uptime and quality postings - there will be strict moderation of daily posts. Unfortunately, Tom doesn't have the luxury of time to maintain the forum daily.

Now, if only he could engage someone (that he trust) to help him out. Many members do inform him if the server is down by sending him a SMS or even via MSN.

But, like you said... the majority wants free just like a typical Malaysian...

first time it was ok, now you do it again. what's your point seriously? don't patronise me with a lame apology. i wouldnt offer to pay if i didnt mean it. you have my word, if zth comes up with a premium membership, i'd be the first to sign up. or how about setting up a donation account like paypal like how most sites do it?

i only started this thread because i want something to be done about it, not to start a fire. but you obviously want to start something. i don't even know why you are taking it so personally.

i don't have to prove anything to you, dude. i know for a fact that i would. instead of being sarcastic n flaming me for no apparent reason, maybe you could take some "action" and think of a way to overcome this problem?

i'm sure if zth.com needs more funds, something can be arranged. a few bucks from a majority of the members go a long way. but until YOU take some action, don't expect me to take any. I already did by bringing up this topic.

rakuen , lets get something straight here , we have never count the amount of money & time we spend for zerotohundred's server , including bandwidth , control panel , troubleshooting , fixing , support .

if you equal them up , im sure it would cost about the same as a brand new car maybe ?.

like i`ve said , we never count in malay they call it " berkira " when it comes to zth , because we are dedicated to serve zth as long as we can and as long as tom is happy & we are happy with it . as you know , time = gold , not to mention my time , my ruin weekends , my ruin holidays , just to keep zth alive .

Do you know any webhost that can do what Fivio has done so far? I doubt so. I used to work for a webhost co since May 2001 to March 2005 and I can tell u something... the bigger the webhost, the more deceiving they are.

Some can claim unmetered bandwidth or no capping but in reality, all these are merely marketing ploy. Why? Bandwidth is freaking expensive and no webhost or backbone provider wants to give out for free. So far, Fivio has kept their word on the bandwidth part.

So, b4 u accused Fivio of not doing their jobs, u better do some homework 1st. Support is a dirty work and no one wants to get their hands dirty for many reasons. Myself gave up IT because of this. Customers just don't appreciate the 'man-behind-the-scene' or 'grease monkey'. On top of that, the pay is so freaking low! Can't even afford a VR4 halfcut.

if i stepped on some toes, i truly apologise... i made an assumption based on the downtimes getting worse.

it's not that i don't appreciate you guys. it wasnt my intention to bang fivio.com or acbc or you (vestax). from my point of view, it's just getting a bit susah cuz nowadays i can't even check my PMs. but it's not my right to complain, me and a few hundred of other zth users get the privilege of using zth.com for free..

i really respect Tom, and anyone involved in maintaining zth. i know its a lot of work, with little or no appreciation. so don't be mistaken, i think you guys are doing a great job so far and i hope you can solve the downtime/corrupted image problem soon. in fact, i'd like to buy you guys a round of TT too. (so don't say i don't put money where my mouth is ^^) anytime you guys are in sj, just gimme a ring or pm and we can TT :)

vestax, i understand what sarcasm is. i'm super sarcastic myself, but not in a condescending way. honestly i took offence in the way you talked. maybe you didn't mean it, maybe you did, i'll never know. but like i said, i didn't come here to make enemies. so yeah, call me la, if u ever wanna yam char.
