Transformer - Independence Day

I think they had a lot more scenes but cut out quite a bit of it to keep the movie decently long. We'll just have to wait for the director's cut dvd.

- Yup, Barricade's fate is unclear. I did remember him charging into the downtown battle but that's about it.
- Frenzy got killed (presumably) by its own spinning blade in the radio room.
- Scorponok, presumably got badly damaged and needed repairs or something.
- Yup, not shown what happened to those but presumably destroyed like you said.
- Agreed. Another scene which I felt was cut short. There must have been a dog fight between Starscream and the F-22s.
- There are some scenes which are strange like this one, which I just put down to as "plot device" ie. better just take it as it is and don't think too much about it.

why the cube only changed electronic devices into "bad" robots?
why suddenly it seems that the cube just got activated?
I think this is my 2 main question....
and yeah; was expecting to see the dog fight between Starscream and the 2 remaining F22....but alas.......disappointment.
Why when AllSparks enters the chest; Megatron just died?....I thought it's suppose to make on more energised?! That's why when Prime is saying "if all fails, pls push the AllSparks into my chest" I was like damn puzzled...on why.

I like to think those Cube created robots were "wild" instead of "bad" or "evil". They were just brought to life and had no wisdom or guidance.

That scene was rather chaotic but I think some violent jolt might have accidentally caused the Cube to discharge its power.

Optimus offered to sacrifice himself, not gain more power, if they couldn't stop the Decepticons. The All Spark/Cube would have too much power for them to contain and therefore would lead to the destruction of both the robot and the Cube.

Ya, what silverfish said is correct. The Cube's power is raw so it could destroy both Autobots and Decepticons. Ironhide said that to Optimus when there were at a building analising the glasses. Why Megatron wanted the cube is because he wants to transform all machines into an army of robots to destroy the humans.

I finally saw what was written on Barricade's rear fender.
Its "to punish and enslave"...definitely Decepticon version.

all the battles seems very short... 'potong stim' only... if this movie is 3 hours long, then it will be good! think Michael Bay wanna spend less on CGIs, spend more on explosions !!
by the way, there are lots of critics about Transformers...

* more human actors than robot characters!

* robot designs not based on the originality of Transformers (not that must keep in 'box' looking)
- only Optimus Prime head design and the truck bring back the originality (truck without red flames will be better!)
- as for me, Bumblebee looks better on Camaro than a VW Bug!

* only Peter Cullen is call back to voiced Optimus Prime, just as in the cartoon!
- it is weird because for the Transformers Game, the original voice for Megatron is the same person for the cartoon, but in the movie... it was 'Agent Smith' from Matrix Trilogies! Bay's excuses: his voice doesn't suits this Megatron design!

the worst critics says that if there's no Optimus Prime in the movie, with lots of human actors/actress and less robots, the name of the movie should be changed to "Morphing Alien Robots From Outer Space", not Transformers ... Hollywood making money with brand names nowadays...

last but not least, what if this movie was James Cameron's film ??

all this critics was from the web i saw that day... :)

Actually, I am about 90% sure there are a lot more of battle scenes which got edited out to keep it within 2 hours. Wait for the director's cut DVD version is all I have to say.

Critics will be critics...and they can kiss my ass, basically.

The movie has its faults, but it remains a bloody brilliant big screen interpretation of my childhood Transformers.

All I can say in response to those points is:
* Just imagine if there were more Robots than humans. It'll be like Cybertron, not Earth.
* To make it realistic enough for the big screen, it needed to convey a certain level of complexity when such a big machine morphs into an entirely different shape. I think they managed to capture the essence of Optimus and Bumblebee rather well, for example. Flames didn't bother me at all.

Completely bonkers. Nuff said.

As for James Cameron. What makes anybody think he would have done a better job? Different interpretation certainly, but would it be better? How bout Peter Jackson? The producer Spielberg himself? Other directors and it goes on and on. Mute point really, and the people who whinge about this need to get a life.

all I can say is the final battle scene can be better.
But than it would involve more cost, more man power and more complex CGI visual effects....

Like I said, I don't think that's the case. I think editing was the problem. Wait for the longer DVD versions.

as for me, if they want more robots, it will look like a power rangers @ ultraman movie on big screen
it will spoil the whole damn thing really
even the last scene has a little 'scent' of Ultraman, don't u think so?
But fortunately, it's neatly done
I totally disagree that more robots will make this a better movie.
I've already got a problem figuring out who was who in the last scene.

The room for improvements?
My 2 cents worth
= Dog fight quality to be as good as Top Gun = Cars chasing scene as good as Matrix Reloaded.
That would be perfect ain't it?
haha

Actually, what is the actual way to convey the power from the cube to those electronic devices?
I saw Sam tripped and dropped the cube on the floor which leads a current through the floor and activated few electronic devices like the soft drinks dispenser machine when Sam was on his way to the statue building.
I thought it might require some specific connection to the cube in order to transfer the power to those electronic devices.

the lansi fella said "nokia phone is naughty" so it transform a notty robot ..

japanese phone is better .."way of samurai" disipline and good

thats what i think.

the silly section7 guy thought Nokia was from Japan.......

i agree... all the robots battles scenes was short, really 'potong stim' le... think even when the Director's Cut / Special Edition / Extended Edition DVD is out, the scenes of battles might longer abit (or even there's no difference at all!); as their production budget might wanted to be spend on more explosions and destructions, rather than long CGIs battle scenes!
what i disaapointed was not much scenes on Jazz, it's like making him an 'extra cast robot' in the movie! did notice that he had a sonic blast canon/gun when he's in battle mode, and wanted to see more of his battle skill or even one Decepticons killing! it was so fast for Optimus Prime's leftenant to die... "i want some pieces of Jazz" !

wanna show us how the Allspark can easily create robots, that's why Megatron wants it soooo much; to create his army of Decepticons!

it's SECTOR 7.... wonder why there's no Nokia Transformers Edition phone as they are promoting it! i only know that eBay really do have the Transformers ad in their site; GMC and Chervrolet also given copyrighted to use Transformers brand name for sales campaign, and the movie featured some GMC's SUVs!

Funny scenes that I like is when the Autobots was hiding from Sam's father at the house...Damn kau funny....especially Jazz and Bumblebee. And Also when Sam was forbiding his father from coming out of the house Bumblebee made the silent pose and "stop" sign to Optimus to stay put....

Another funny scene was when Megatron and Optimus fell from the tall building...Megatron just use his finger to tick off a guy...the human look just like a lalat to him...Hahahaha...

There's another where Bumblebee open up his tap and "Lubricate" the Sector 7 fellow...Hahaha..Optimus stops him "Bumblebee stop lubricating them."

Titan,
you missed out the part where Mojo lubricated on IronHide's foot.
IronHide was mad about it and wanted to blow Mojo with his cannon but manage to put it off when Sam succeed in persuading him to do so.
He also grumble that his foot will rust later on.
I like this part.

the last part before the credits showed that starscream escaped...that's the last twist of the story..btw..rumours has it that a sequel is coming..
