Mr. Pannirselvam, the owner of Roles Auto located in Kuala Lumpur was a master mechanic. As his company name suggests, and Selvam as he is more popularly known, repairs Rolls Royce for a living. At any point of time, one would be able to catch a glimpse of about half a dozen Rolls some valued at tens of millions sitting in his shop. The rich and famous, the aristocrats and royalty often drop by his shop to check on their wheels while they were being repaired. Security was so tight that often the whole neighbourhood had to be sealed for half a day to allow the visit of VVVIP owners.

Roles Auto apart from all the special tools they own, had the best knowledge to take on the most expensive cars ever built on the road the last 100 years. Needless to say, parts and supplies had to be the best quality and standard. The same spark plugs that you can buy in the parts store for RM 30 aren't used by him for only those of the same type but in OE packing from England costing 20 times the cost are used. For he will never allow a such a marque to break down and having the VIP owner sitting by a bush at the roadside being fanned by the chauffeur and bodyguards just because of a fouled plug.

Such was the special skills that Selvam possessed that even Rolls Royce distributors like the one in Hong Kong, offered him lucrative salaries to work for them. He was into the loop internationally on service matters but chose to stay and kept his existing customers happy.

Sadly, we mourn his passing on Oct. 25. Mr. Selvam will always be remembered for his kindness, gentleness and politeness shown to all his customers and suppliers alike apart from his expert knowledge on car maintenance. His down-to-earth nature is hard to beat even though his expert hands work on indeed very expensive cars and he mainly dealt with the rich and very important people of this nation.

R.I.P. Mr. Pannirselvam.

......and what would be a test drive like for a Rolls after it has been repaired? Mr. Selvam would personally drive it all the way to Tanjong Malim and back often accompanied by outriders! Such are his standards that are indeed astronomically high and impossible to meet.

Photographers in China has spotted an Exora prototype running around in northern China. It might indicate that the proton-youngman partnership might also include this MPV in the future. This will mean that the production volumes of the Exora will be big to give the economies of scale, meaning more affordable cars for the consumer. It will add another destination for the export of the Exora, other than the Europe, Iran and the rumoured Mitsubushi rebadging of the Exora...
