some info on Getz 1.4

hi guys....

i hope u guys can help me on this... my friend looking forward to buy getz.. we went and asked around and my friend is thinking of buying either 1.3 CBU unit or 1.4 CKD unit. The price:
1.4 CKD - 59,xxx
1.3 CBU - 57,000.

My question is, what are the differences of the CBU and CKD... i know that the CKD parts are from Korea but assembled here... but how is the quality... and which is better, the 1.4 CKD or 1.3 CBU in terms of performance, quality, fuel saving and maintenance...

hi 2pac,
if your fren can stretch his/her budget, getting the 1.4 would be better
1. performance: 1.4 is definitely better, engine's dohc compared to sohc for 1.3
2. fuel consumption: my gut feeling is that 1.4 will give better FC, based on members' feedback, the 1.6 & 1.3 record similar FC, the 1.6 have better power to weight ratio & uses dohc engine.. so, expect 1.4 to perform better
3. ckd vs cbu: in terms of build quality, we can say 1.3 is good.. however, if u have viewed the 1.4, test drive it, u'll feel that ckd 1.4 keeps up the cbu quality
4. features: 1.4 definitely have additional ones eg intermittent wipers
5. maintenance: affordable, not pricey, easy to sourced parts, can source some parts ourselves

if yer fren decide to get the 1.4, pls be aware of the brake features, clarify with sales on the disc brakes.. there r some confusion over disc brakes all round or just disc for fronts & drums for rear
