Single or Twins

on the highway i mean... at 200 kph... drop gear terus blah.... leave them wondering

Yeah! Now we're talking!

I think nowadays its no longer 0-100km/h that counts but how fast you can go from 200 to 300km/h :driver:

I'd go for a single turbo with a 3.0 anyday. On the stock 2.6 displacement hmmm... :(

I think this is the key....

RB26 was never built for a big single, just medium sized ones - BUT good twins will be better than a medium sized single on a rb26 anyway.

But when you go for bigger displacement, that's where big singles come in play. With a good setup, you'll get the best of both worlds, quick spool and then big peak power.

Have a look at the calculations by Endless-R on gtr.co.uk. The thread is here:

An engine is an air pump. Although 200cc-400cc looks small, but difference is vast when forced induction is involved.

Ya betul!!!!!

its true the Rb26 is lacking in low down torque, but it answers back with high revs...

the more revs you feed a big single....

Putting horsepower aside, single is definately less maintenance compared to twins. You have double the wastegates, oil and water lines, plumbing and if one of either component fails, it's hell of of job to check probably ends up pulling both system apart. Take is as having two gf's or two wives or two mistresses.

Many drag set-up's uses single, T-51KAI/SPL but if you are daring enough and still wanted twins, then a pair of GT3040's ... Basically, if you are not a hp's freak (say below 600), keeping the original set-up would be running twins. Else, single is definately less headache and cleaner bay. Ultimately, is one setting up the car for drags or for circuit racing?

Personally, I prefer running twins coz I love headache ...

I too prefer twins as there are many bolt on options.

Remember, to run a single you would need
single turbo
manifold
downpipe
induction pipes
plus all supporting ancillaries
= big money to install

Twins can be upgraded bolt-on up to HKS gtrs/Garrett 2860-10=2871r circa 700-800hp.
So only ancillaries needed.

Single turbo manifolds are very prone to cracking unless the best quality ones.
Stock gtr twin manifolds are cast-iron and very rarely crack.

T04Z+rb30 used to be my dream setup but now its 2860-10+rb30.

one question for all u great skyliners...can a pair of hks gt 2530's attain speed of 300 km????

Hello Abu, I'm not at all a great skyliner... but of course can...veli de easy lorrr.

You take that pair of hks gt 2530's and drop from helicopter... easy can attain 300km no problemo hasta la vista.:rofl::rofl: kidding bro :proud:

On a more serious note, for top speed run to reach 300km/h there are much more important factors:
1. safety
2. gearing
3. aerodynamics
If those are all sorted, then 2530s can do it... I think several gtrs has done it with 2530s.

300km/h is a walk in the park for GTRs, its the new black :adore:

Having said that, aerodynamics on the Skylines especially the R34s aren't that great. It's shaped like a box on wheels.

Btw, does the 5-speed manual box in the R32s and R33s allow you to hit 300km/h in top gear?

300 clicks is possible with 5 speed on the speed-sensor output. Doable even with GT-SS.

Only thing to worry is safety. Malaysian roads aren't that great.

Technically speaking, the faster you get there the better so that you can slow down after that and spend less time driving in high speed, so big single like the T51R/T88 or big twins like GT3037s are the way to go.

Having said that though, I'm not a fan of wide open empty roads. GTRs are built to handle. So yeah, I'll still stick to tiny-tweens...
