Soundstream:

yes the starter sound is totally different from the original proton car accept perdana V6. its so much smoother then the ori starter sound. its not only the sound but the weight and also the size as well. comparing an ori 4g92p (1.6) starter may be lighter and smaller by half. in more technical terms the high speed starter uses bearing and gears but the original wants uses something like magnet and copper wires looks like the "TAMIYA car" engine. :) i think that is the only thing about it.

only cranking to start is smoother. the engine sound still the same. only when you start your car or in another words when u crank start the car the sound is smooth in the starter n not the engine.
