Hi,

I'm planning to get an amplifier for a subwoofer. The sub is rated at 250W RMS. What is the value for money amplifier brand and model should I go to?

I heard for subs, no need to go for those good quality brand amps. As long as it got enough juice to pump the sub, it should be fine. Is this statement true?

Thanks!

i would recommand u to get a monoblock amp.....

i will help u alot in future also if u plan maybe to add another woofer....this amp can take it.....

anyway if u intrested in monoblock amp....
PM me.....if u serious....
i am selling PROKICK monoblocks

If monoblock a type of amplifier or it's a brand name?

What so special about this monoblock type amplifier?

PROKICK is the brand...

monoblock is a type of amp tht is meant for sub woofers oni....because it is very powerfull......

look for an amp that can give u around 300W at 4ohm bridged mono, assuming u have a 4ohm single voice coil sub. any amp u can find that fits your budget and power requirement can oledi.

not true, if you have cheap sub then use cheap amp enough, if you have high end sub, then of course must use a high end amp to push

but get better amp la.. in the future can use .. woofer nvm.. coz in the future also explode 1.. kaka..

you have 2 choice, you can either use a 2 channel amp bridged it to wack the subwoofer or u can use a monoblock/one channel amp to wack the subwoofer.

When choosing amp remember to get the power rating nearest to the power of your sub whether its a 2 channel amp or a monoblock/one channel amp.

To me, whether u need a good amp to match a good sub is a matter of your budget n preference(spl/sql). If you have huge budget go for high end stuff for both subwoofer n amp, otherwise a decent amp n sub is good enough, its all boil down to your budget n lastly your ice tuning too.

If he got a 300w 4ohm DVC then how many watts amp he must get ?

then your amp is recommended to have 600W RMS at 2ohm, you can parallel your subwoofer to 2 ohm loaded

k2000: wouldn't that reduce the performance of the subs ? All i have noticed is that normally subs are at 4 ohm !

What do u mean parallel subwoofer to 2 ohm loaded ? U mean if got 1 pair the subs isit ?

normal sub with SVC 4 ohm, if you want to load a 2 ohm, you need 2 SVC sub, for DVC sub, it act like 2 SVC sub.

thats how you play with DVC, a 2 ohm loaded will double the power of a 4 ohm, but make sure your amp is stable at 2ohm, the parallel wiring diagram is like below

look for an amp that is stable down to 2ohm that gives out around 300W @ 2ohm bridged mono

A Diamond D3 400.2 would be nice if you're running 4 ohms. It's rated at 100w x 2 or 400w x 1 @ 4ohms. The price I'm selling is at RM1200.

How about JL Audio e1400D? Is this amp good? I managed to get one myself recently. Need feedback on this amp.

In general, JLaudio stuffs are good (ori ones). if you have one, why not just use it and tell us instead :D
