dear guys n gurls,

need ur opinion. now, when i'm driving more than 120km/h my steering start to vibrate like hell. i can see my cigarette shaking around:driver:. i've done "off-wheel balancing" but the problem remain the same if i drove 120km/h and above:mad:. i can see that all my rims still in good condition. please advice....

p/s: anything got to do wif wheel bearing? or drive shaft?:hmmmm:

the tyre still condition good? or maybe is driveshaft.
cheers....

#1 suspect is the driveshaft.

However, it could also be due to simpler problems. Remove your sparkplugs and check them. Are they in good condition? An unevenly firing sparkplug can cause vibration under acceleration or at high RPMs.

If the spark plugs are in good condition, remove them one at a time, attach to the plug cable in the open, and crank up the engine. See how it's sparking. Cylinders 1 & 4 fire at the same time while cylinders 2 & 3 fire at the same time. Wira uses the "wasted spark" system.

If one of the plugs isn't firing, e.g. plug 1 isn't firing, you'll notice that plug 4 fires with extra intensity, and the spark will even cross the gap to terminate at the engine head.

In such a case, it's either the plug cable problem or the distributor problem. Plug cables can be changed for RM30-RM80 per set (don't go for those cheap aftermarket silicone ones, those damn things bugger up pretty fast). Stick with OEM Proton or Bosch or some other reliable ones.

If it's a distributor problem, don't go to a half cut shop. Go straight to a spare part shop. A halfcut shop once quoted me RM220 for the distributor, and after bargaining the guy dropped the price to RM180. I didn't believe it was that expensive, so I went to a spare part shop to get an original Siemens-VDO distributor. It cost me only RM45.

 answer this..........
vibrate during trottle or off or cruise?
feel the vibrate from left/ right on the foot or steering wheel?

it happened to my dad's wira b4, his are steel rims (SE - 16inches JRD - better check it coz the quality so so only due to budget given for the rims, get it change and see coz sometime the rims dented inside u cant see..only will vibrate above 80km/h. if u want better pick up and better fuel consumption and cheaper tires...go change to 15inches rim, trade in and u need to top up only bout rm500 to rm800 for new set of tires & rims.

2nd - spark plugs which u have checked
3rd - wheel bearing but usually u can hearing grinding sound and it grew louder at speed between 30km/h to 60km/h
4th - tires condition, touch the tires and see whether its even surface or oval shape or it slumped inside, it will cause vibration too...lookout for any lump at the sidewall of the tires (inside and outside)
5th - absorber & coil spring - worned absorber will caused vibration too
6th - check all yr suspension's joint.....worned bushing may cause vibration too
7th - have ur car met any major accident b4, if yes, check with yr alignment and ask tires shop to measure yr 4wheel base distance whether one side longer or shorter as it should be same length...it will cause unnecessary handling problem too.

my 2cents...hope may help...not 100% accurate...at least some idea...cheerz

better try this. front trye/rim change to rear..rear tyre/rim change to front..
after change and also same problem...your driveshaft got problem. if not mistake, NEW 1 about RM260 (not recond). cheers...

My own personal experience

Check every (stock standard) 16" heavy-as-hell rims if dented inside, from outside confirm not visible. If MALAS  go to tire shop. Mine crack 3inches long after diving in Seelong dreaded potholes. Trade in for new cheapo 15" taiwan rims

Next sparkplugs even fried the damn cables, start engine then pluck one by one & guess what? no spark! My car when like a rodeo-mad-bull in Senai when this happened. Change the whole set then happily ever after

1st..a small vibration during off cruise (static)..maybe it's caused by the engine mounting...
2nd..during speeding at 120km/h. i've done checking on my wheels and found that one of the AC cone missing. replace all to new one. now the vibration reduce a lot, but still a small vibration...anything got to do with the wheel bearing?

nway, thanks for ur response!
