Thought of sharing a little incident that happened a couple of weeks ago.
It was a routine Sunday morning as I headed for the basketball courts somewhere in DJ for a game to detoxify myself after consuming excessive amounts of alcohol the night before. Upon reaching the location, I was surprised to see a squad car and a group of people on the court. After finding a suitable shady spot, I got down to see what the commotion was all about. It so happened that some dude had managed to snap his shin (not to the extent that his shin bone was protruding or anything). On the court were the usual on lookers and two cops, one of which was armed by an MP5. From what little information I gathered (didn't really know anyone as this was the earlier group, mine starts @ 10am), they called the cops as they did not have the number to a hospital (well, something like that - my Cantonese is nothing to shout about). While waiting for an ambulance to arrive, a total of 3 squad cars eventually showed up. After I had been there for about 10 mins, the first ambulance arrived and stretchered the victim away. After another 5 mins, a second ambulance (this time I could clearly see that it was from Assunta) arrived and was told that they weren't needed as the victim has already left the scene.
My question is:
1) Was there a need for the cops to send a total of 6 armed personnel there? I admit that they may have basic first aid training but 3 squad cars??? And they claim not to have enough personnel to deal with the escalating crime rate?
Well Ong Ka Ting lives there which explains it I suppose.
