recently juz plonked in a gsr rs.according to my friends if it is a gsr rs the intercooler, turbine and injector are evo 1 is it true??mine its only the i/c which is vr4-rs thats all....anyway is there anything such as gsr rs???damm disappointed n bought it for RM7000..!!!!!!!!!!

Morgan,
What u said is yes, as this engine have 210 hp stock.
Not sure about the engine spec but these engine comes with evo intercooler.
Try to check it at the market.. hehe..

some say there's no such thing as gsr rs.which 1 is true i also don't know.
i know that there is a 210 hp gsr.blurry about this topic.

i gues urs is normal gsrt, where the Intercooler is located at the driver side rite? small one...if i not mistaken.

saw my fren bought one half cut...gsr as well for his wira but the intercooler is at center....like evo...he tol me it is newer version and has extra HP....i not sure it is gsr rs o not...he jus told me newer version.....

even if there is actually a gsr rs, it wont come with evo1 injectors n turbo. intercooler maybe yes.

if we look at the history of RS version from mitsu car, there's a lot of
differences with the so call gsr RS.for example,RS usually lighter then
the gsr.thinner door glass n windscreen.no rear wiper.no sound
proofing.no power windows.even the wheel's come in steel in smaller
size.sometime's i even heard my friend who work at a chop shop
telling me that the so call gsr RS actually a wagon turbo.
really confusing.hehehehe.......

bro i think the one you refer to is the libero GT model...(wagon)
not alot different from normal gsr...
just that td04 turbine is a twin fin and its fitted with an evo i/c...
this type of model has the CD5W chasis number..
only auto libero halfcut has reach our shore... no manual tranny yet..(to my knowledge)...

pesonally im using this engine in my wira... and there are couple of things that need to be mod before can put in the wira chasis...(steering rack cant be use bracket too big and piping from i/c to intake is short... dont know somehow when i put the engine into a wira the engine itself is lower then in the original chasis...

cheers...

actually there is a gsr rs version.
1.more lightened body.
2.roll bar thicker than normal.
3.manual aircond
4.manual window.
5.evo1 intercooler
6.bigger piston.(sorry forget the sizes)
7.diff ecu code.
8.got extra 1 hole inside the timing belt area.not sure what this hole for?

i know this bcos i changed my stock gsr piston to rs piston.comfirmed! rs version is not a myth.

as what ive heard from alot of mech...
gsr rs is a wagon (CD5W) or normal (CD5A) gsr that has been mod my the previous japan owner...
so when it reach our halfcut place they call it rs spec...

i dont really think that gsr can fit evo piston because as
i know that gsr has a 81mm piston diameter and evo has 85mm diameter...
there is no way that you can do this because theres not enough room between the cylinders to take 4mm out of each one...
Dont matter what year the gsr is from (CM5A, CD5W, or CD5A) all have the same bore/stroke

does anyone know what chassis number the rs version is from?...
is the rs piston forged? or just normal but different size?...
no solid proof that the rs version does or doesnt exist...

just my 2 cent...

cheers....

harith,

i'm using the libero GSR CD5W, but mine comes with mini intercooler!! and it's an auto tranny (though i combine this with my pre-existing japanese 4G93NA 2 wheel F5M222RRKE galant gearbox)......ECU Code is 7377 but now lying in my store room unused.... dunno bout the steering rack bracket thing coz i left it for my mech to sort it out......

CD5W with a mini intercooler (side mount?)...
mine also CD5W auto with ecu code 5070...
i will refer to the ppl in 4g93t.net with this ...:-)
personally i never seen CD5W from libero chassis fitted with a side mount...

i think later model libero is using some lancer item....

kennethwong:- now you using what ecu....?

harith,

ya it's a side mount mini intercooler, it's a CD5W wagon, coz i took a good look at the original steel tag at the engine firewall area before i did my transplant... now proudly a megasquirt owner, like khoyos' monster (but mine no where near his haha)....

The 7377 ecu you have is the one that cant chipped because there is no EPROM socket on the board...

harith,

me now using megasquirt, it's a new DIY standalone from US....so if my 7377 can't be rechipped, it's as good as no value?

yeap it cant be chipped...
but now you already using ms...
nice nice...
im waiting for my budget for a standalone...
how is the ms treating your car ...? good?

cheers...

i still remember..looking for a gsr for a friend of mine..
got a CD5W half cut(as per stated on the chasis)..comes wif front bar..
its a manual type..but still using a mini intercooler..ecu no. start from 5XXX (cant remember the whole tho) and its a "M" type..which reffering it cant be remap.

as for 7377..i've seen a few which DOES hav chip as stock..means that maybe sum selected models/years do hav it...

im using cd5w, with sidemount intercooler, n just fit in my wira without any modification.

harith,

for a cheap budget standalone, it does the job pretty well!!! anything can be adjusted anything can be set n played with, plethora of options to keep you busy mainly fueling n ignition, other options like shiftlight and many more will come after my surgery in the hospital next week.... currently need to set for better fuel consumption, as currently a bit on the high consumption side, RM 50 can only go 200km city driving with 30% on boost....

this is quite confusing...the most easy way is to note the chasis number
then google it on the net
