noted...but from experience...if a proton does not have a heat shield covering the extractor manifold , the heat from the extractors does cause premature wear in a lot of other parts...which is actually not good. It is therefore necessary for one to buy a manifold from reputable companies, so that the chances of the manifold cracking is less. I've been usin my manifold for with exhaust wrap, so far no problems. Previously, without the wrap, i noticed extreme heat warping around the crankshaft pulley, waterpump areas in my proton. Better to wrap than have heat destroy other parts around your car.Originally posted by llsaw@Dec 17 2004, 10:59
Bear in mind that mods such as exhaust wraps will prolong the heat soak of a exhaust header which will ultimately increase the chance of stress failures from the heat. It would be better to coat the manifold/header with a ceramic or equivalent coating but again this is at additional cost..
11.9 compression? :oOriginally posted by llsaw@Dec 17 2004, 12:04
I've been using an aftermarket header together with 11.9 compression on my car but don't have any heat soak problems..
If u have heat soak on the water pump and crankshaft pulley, this could mean uneven airflow around the engine bay. You sure you don't have any blockake somewhere? Using a radiator top panel (slam panel) also helps...
:o I never knew IIsaw! I always assumed that you were driving a 4G93T! This is news to me. And very 'interesting' too! :)Originally posted by ninja_iga@Dec 17 2004, 13:08
