More Volkswagen marketing genius as Amaroks topple massive chimney w/video

Wrecking balls are the weapon of choice when it comes to bringing massive structures to their feet, being able to reduce buildings to rubble with mere swings. Nonetheless, they don’t usually come cheap and aren’t exactly easy to maneuver or transport to the site.

So a demolition crew in the UK needed to bring down a 154-ton chimney, Volkswagen stepped up and offered four of their Amarok pick up-trucks to haul down the 67-meter structure smoke stack.

Before the trucks had their go though, some engineers were called upon to weaken the structure’s integrity at key points to make the task easier a little. This is standard routine for all pull-down style demolitions as the vehicle pulling wouldn’t be capable of it otherwise.

After that, the four Amaroks were hooked up with 200-meter long ropes each to the roof of the chimney. The flag was dropped and all the trucks grunted their turbodiesel mills to topple the puffer.

The bigger they are the harder they fall, and fall the chimney did at the tow hooks of the four Amaroks. Not only does this marketing exercise prove the Amarok’s towing capacity, it also provides for publicity that no other advertisement could.

There's no news on the availability of the Amarok on our shores but if it could be priced right, it would be good to have a European pick-up to give the Japanese and American trucks a run for their money.

Dear forumers and sifus...

The past 2 days has seen a serious hurricane grade storm in KK, Sabah. Many places flooded and many cars fxxked. Many workshop flourished ^^.

Today, I stopped a a place where the flood is 1 - 1.5 ft high. I decided to go anyways because there is a cars behind me. Inconvenient to turn around. SO I put first gear and stomped! I cross fast, but the flood water came in my firewall. Drivers side a few splashes but passenger side is serious sh*t! Imagine a cup of water...
