forced induction?
either using an air compressor driven mechanically, normally auxiliary drive belts; known as supercharge.
or,
air compressor driven by exhaust gas mounted at end of exhaust manifold; known as turbocharge.
the latter is more popular for huge leap in power, but engine internals must be capable of taking the ultra high pressures otherwise, pecah loh!
supercharger spins according to engine speed, and power delivery is almost linear like where a turbocarger can spins up to 100,000rpm hence the high forced induction power. lag is a problem, as well as heated air going into combustion. solve it by using air-to-air intercooler.
