I just got a new CPU, with SATA HDD, the problem now is that the SATA HDD is seen as a removable drive, the icon that appears when you use a USB is on.
when i click that icon, it shows my HDD number(some code la)
how do i stop it from being viewed as a removable drive?
there's no slave/master thing like the IDE drives.
i'm using ASUS M2N-E mobo. AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor, 2 x 512mb kingston ram. guess my graphics card is not so important
duno how to figure this out, not a computer person

This is bcoz ur HDD support hot swap or hot plug function, u can remove ur HDD when ur PC still turn on.

so how do i stop this hot swap thing.
even if i try (just testing) to remove hardware, it of cos its not allowed.
dont want to see the USB icon la

haha... bro, although this not the first times i hear someone need to stop or cancel new technology things... but this response always let me interest.. nvm.. diff people got diff mind....

ok.. i already check ur mb manual... ur bios didn't have the any option can turn off the "hot swap"...

but i think mayb can change ur HDD jumper setting....

wat's ur HDD model?

ok... i think this is ur HDD model: ST980825A

luckily this model still reserved "old power cable slot (4pins connector)", if ur HDD using SATA power slot, change to "old" one...

if above solution can't solve, u can try:
--- right click ur taskbar > properties > Customize (right lower left) > Change the icon status from "Hide when inactive" to "Always hide". Remember restart ur PC.

but this is "cheat" way, it will let the "Safely Remove Hardware" always hide and can't show any "Removable Hardware" info ex: Thumb Drive, USB HDD...

Wish can help u...
