I highly doubt that. In stock form, only the Evo X is slower than an STi on straights, otherwise Evo 8 vs V8, Evo 9 vs V9, all EVO wins

I think it's the other way around. Straight drag Subaru may win but in corners Evo is sharper.

Other than Evo X, the previous 8 and 9 is faster than the same model year STi.

Just for the record, I'm a fanboy of both the Evo or STi. Both have been rally champions, both have proven pedigree, and both are a platform of unlimited potential, just that Evo has been the favorite child between the two. In Malaysia the EVO is the thieves favorite as well.

Hehe yeah, I thought so too. From all straight head-to-head comparisons that I've seen so far, the Evos always win, especially when it comes to time attack on the track, even with the Evo X! The most glaring was the comparison in Top Gear, whereby the older std Evo 8 lap times was still a bit faster than the newer (at the time) 330HP STI Peter Solberg Edition, while the same generation Evo FQ320 beats the PS Edition by 2 or 3 seconds around the track! Probably only 22B STI Type-C, & RA stand a chance of beating the respective Evos of their time, that's why I said "may" but not a sure thing though. :)

i prefer evo... you can easily get aftermarket part such as JUN/TODA/HKS..
but when come to power/bhp or cornering... its subjective...
if you have enough $$ to get high performance part high-cam, big turbo, good internal part, good suspension etc..
you're on your way to have perfect evo or scooby...
