dude.. do u ever see Mobil1 advertising? Shell uses F1, So did Petronas. Mobil1? nope. the statistics speak for itself. =} (note: we are talking about Mobil1, not the petrol or smiles card k?)

.

just wondering, how long you havent been watching tv?
i've seen the mobil1 advert dozen times
anyways, with all the endorsements on race scene, if thats not advertisements, what are those
burning money?

yes mobil1's good, alot of marketing makes the oil price high :retarded:

if we got our facts wrong can tell us nicely la...no need to sound like we ar so stupid....remember is a forum where people xchange knowledge not get scolding from some one....did I mention anything about climate? no....i suggested because mine is also 4g13p...and mechanic pour in 10W40....and as far as i know 5W40 is thinner(again if i got my fact wrong just tell me NICELY)......man....

i apologise if i got rude the last time, the intention was to get everybody's attention, to search and share valid facts. do search around before posting confidently, because there r many readers out there who doesnt know the even the basics. i wudnt mind giving my pov everytime this kinda Q is asked, but to those who wanna help out, be prepared wit the correct answer, please.. i myself dont know every single bit about engines, so correct answers r crucial for me so dat i can minimise mistake, and i think iam speaking for the others about dis. dis is y i join zth, to gather knowledge and to help out.

again, iam sorry if i was being rude bro :)

oil thickens with increase in temp.. where in the world did u learn that it thins..

if it really thins.. whats going to protect ur engine?

btw thicken and thins is not right. should be more/less viscous. =P

iam sorry, but i beg to differ on dis one. ive read many articles regarding oil, and what i read isnt the same as what u posted. please post the link where u got dis info here, so dat we all can have the benefit. thanx!! :)

no you are not wrong. they really are different.

the reading only shows the viscosity of the engine oil when cold and when at operating temperature. how good is the lubrication and the boiling point where the oil's molecular structure get destroyed is another story by itself.

if an engine is operating beyond any oil's capability ie surpassing its boiling point, there is sumthing WRONG wit d engine and it has to be taken care off. shud start from the coolling system imo

oil

getting oil with the right viscocity is most important as i once used some
brandless oil & con rod broke...

Now using 10/40 magnatec castrol...Nowadays lots of recycled oil summore....

Be careful with the oil grades...

ahh.. so sorry.. made a mistake there. (sorryyyyy) engine oil indeed does get less viscous as temperature increases. the oil 'thins' to its rating (i.e. 5W-50, the oil thins to a viscosity of a 50 weight oil at that specific temperature) really sorry for the misinformation. i feel kinda dumb now ;P

emmm i was using 5-50 w fully since new car in my 4g15p there no problem b4 event i always high rev my engine add on my engine is cleaner compare using mineral oil.. i feel no different using 15-50 w fully.... i think all suit to ur engine as long we start used fully syntetic oil since the engine is new... this my experience cause my family have 2 same model car and same yr and almost same milage but 1 is using fully syntetic since new and the other 1 is using mineral oil since new.... as the result the engine using mineral oil start having tapping noise and have build alot of carbon but mine using fully nice , smoother n less carbon build up. so u guys decide which to used?

120Y : dats a good example u have there, but ive some bad experience wit fully synthetic motor oil. they left sum kinda moss-like sludge inside my engine, now iam better wit mineral base oil.

Synthetic don't leave sludge, in fact they are design just to combat sludge buildup. You could possible bought some "fake" synthetic to cause these problem.

trex, maybe what u said is true IF i hadnt bought the second bottle from eneos itself. i dont have dat problem anymore now, after just a bottle of lubrioil

mineral oil is good but it will get worse when add in engine oil treatment or oil additive that claim more silence engine and stop from burning out of engine oil that will cause build up sludge and carbon ... so those additive not recomented to add in engine especialy mix with full syntetic engine oil that will cause sludge and carbon which cause ur engine oil break molecue and not efective anymore if worse may cause more wear and tear in ur engine... unless ur engine piston ring wear out seriously then u can used it to stop the engine oil burn out faster....

It is not recommended to add any after market additives to mineral or synthetic oil. Modern engine oil is so well formulated (anti-wear additives) that any after market engine oil additives will cause more harm than good.
Choose a good branded engine oil and be done with it. Save your money spend on oil additives for more useful mod.

yeah man u r rite... better choose the good quality engine oil than additive that do more harm ....

ive never use any oil additive wit my new engine, i dont think its needed
