In terms of performance, durability and price, is there any MAJOR different between methodology & works crank pulley..

Or recommend any brand crank pulley for me~

no aftermarket crank pulley for malaysia cars has enough expertise and money to R&D harmonic damper to protect ur engine from harmonic distortion from ur crankshaft and piston movement resonance, this distortion can result in bent crankshaft. mythology claims they got proper harmonic damper but in other forum, a guy claimed to cut the pulley into 2 and found out it was a simple slip-on rubber only

highly not recommended for street car. race cars use it coz the engine is rebuilt everytime after race so makes no difference

IC... that's what i heard from other forum too. but really so many ppl swearing on the Mtyh Crank so im just curios to know... Anyway, thanks for the info as im targeting my ride for daily

Leave the crank pulley alone. Do NOT replace it with any aftermarket one. If you want, change other pulleys like power steering and alternator instead.

O.o dint know power steering and alternator pulley can be changed to better one, without really bad effect on engine. .. can you link me some example~

not a bad idea, i wish aftermarket come up with lightened alternator, waterpump and power steering pulley set for my car, efficiency for power..nicee..

Not for Satria neo though. I don't think its available for Campro engines.

I used to have koperformance pulley for my E36 318is. Its pretty good. For water pump, alternator and power steering.

Never touch the cranky pulley. Crank pulley has been carefully designed by the factory to reduce harmonic distortion (as much as 30-40%) on the crank.

If you really want more performance out of the engine. Do things like:

1. replace the PS pump with an electric pump. Many cars already using electric pump instead of belt driven pump. You will free up even more HP than crank pulley (crank pulley can only get 1-2HP).

2. Replace water pump with an electric pump. Mini etc using electric water pump these days.

Of course downside of having non belt driven pumps is that they create additional points of failure.

I just have a thought, I'm not contradicting anyone or anything.

Say you take a large coin and flick it, you'll hear a loud "dingggg" sound that might last a while if you hung the coin on a string.

But if you placed a piece of rubber on it, all that vibrational energy is absorbed by the rubber and it'll be just a simple "thud" instead of the "dinngg" sound.

Does that mean the coin is dampened by the piece of rubber? Because Mythelogy is the only aftermarket brand that's available in M'sia right now to even have a piece of rubber as part of it's original design. The rest are solid pieces of aluminium.

The other thing to watch out for when buying a crank pulley is the center cone sleeve. The Mythelogy pulley is strengthened with solid stainless steel vs competitor brands which is just plain aluminium. The difference is alu is soft and will be prone to deformation if there is no dampening. Even if there is I doubt it'll be able to maintain it's round shape with those sort of forces.

I'm not justifying for Mythelogy btw, I'm only pointing out what I do know. There might be other pulleys out there that are equally good or better. I wouldn't know.

I know there is lighten waterpump for campro, but dint know if there is electric pump for it..

Hmm... what i know is Mythelogy is the only was dampened. but really dont know if the dampen really work...is there any other aftermarket crank?
