dun forget gear ratios XD. having a 5.3:1 trd final drive isn't going to help in getting better FC
theorically big port block should be easier to rev since the internal is lighter, but then weaker. small port block is more durable as well as the internal, but small port head is better too if you don't plan to go over 200hp or extreme high reving, since small port head gives better intake air velocity compare to big port, thus more power.GSRTurbo said:Any one tried mating the big port top to the small port block, stock std. Herad the small port with the 7rib block is tougher than the 3rib block on the big port.
GSRTurbo said:Interesting discussion, Heard about the lack of torque compare the 20v against the 16v at lower rpm, izzit true?
If I were to mod the engine izzit better to use the 16v or the 20v, cause i heard a lot of forummers favour 16v compare to 20v, and its cheaper to mod, any xperience?
if u really want to mod, get a 16v. more potential for supercharging or turbo charging.GSRTurbo said:Interesting discussion, Heard about the lack of torque compare the 20v against the 16v at lower rpm, izzit true?

yea, i share the same experience too. If i'm in the wrong gear and my rpm is around 1.5-2k, i step full and nothing much happens. But once it picks up speed and enters the 3k range, you can feel the pickup.ahchi said:Just would like to share some comments too, I just drive my just transplanted EE90 with 20V BT auto. I don't know whether is it the car not yet fine tune or setup, I just feel like it's really lack of torque during pickup, it''s just like you press the pedal but it don't give the fast response as you think, especially when I compare to my SM4 F20A twincam auto. Is it the 20V BT auto really just that peformance or is it something else related to engine tuning, exhaust etc? Please share your comment, especially for 20V BT auto owner.

for auto you have no choice in changing gears. But when you step full on the pedal, does the tranny shift down to lower gears?
i thought the vvt is to give better lower end power?buck-7 said:just read the thread, my expirience with the bt shows only one weakness, its vvti pulley. thats the thing that fails which makes it loose power at the lower revs and also give you that noisy cam operation.
a set of adjustabloe pulley will cure that but again you either set it for street or track setting.
oh yeah, the temp pick up it at the top so if you have a coolant leak the temp meter will show normal as its only reading hot air.
there were a few times where i had a coolant leak and i didnt notice the engine was over heating from the temp reading untill i hear the engine started to ping.
its a good idea to run an oil temp meter with this engine, well actually any other engine that is.
other than that, there's nothing that can compare to the BT rev happy characteristics in this 1.6 class except for honda's b16.
