Cleaning Headlights.

reflectors or not, d yellowish stains also is from d insides of yer headlights too.. u need to take out the lamp assembly to polish the plastic cover from insides too... trust me.. my headlamps are still in my room coz still got no time to get it done.. it's as yellow as someone pissed into it....

ended up buying a new pair instead... but still gotta work on this old pair.. coz wanna have the smoked effect.. hehehehe

i know that, but the problem is to remove the lens from the reflector isnt it, got to either put it in the oven at 120 degrees for 10 minutes. Or use a heat gun which i do not have, puting it in the oven sounds siky though, after become like melted cheese.

hi there blackhowling! Try this ---> get some grains of uncooked rice (handfull) and put them in your headlights (removed from the car of course). add water fill it up to the brim and tape up the ends. The fermentation process breaks down the grime/dirt without damage to reflectors. I had to do mine twice but came out great.

Well 1st I take out the head lamp and took out the blub. I sprayed using wheel cleaner (foam type) into the reflector and inner section of thr head light and let it soak for 1 min and flush it. Let it dry and outside section polished with (original) soft 99. It works for me.... No need to buy..... save money for other mod project

Dude...r u using Autosol Plastic Cleaner to clean ur headlamp cover?? :huh:

my headlamp cover is glass.

I used thinner to prep the surface, wash it, dry it ,then used autosol gold/silver polish.
wait for it to dry for abt a few minutes, scrub them off.

the remaining bits between the lines can be scrubbed with tinner and a toothbrush.

for the reflector, i just used a mister to wet the surface and wipe off the dirt with facial tissue. U'll be amazed how much dust is on the reflector even if it looks shiny. but remember to be gentle.

good luck trying it, it's worth the hardwork

ppl are asking bout cleaning plastic headlights le...... not glassla.... think u need glasses tho..... :lol:
mine plastic headlights kautim by my fren everytime it turn yellowish.... but have to pay him rm20.... <_<

well, if he cant even see if it's a glass or plastic headlamp, I'm really sorry for his eyesight, he needs those glasses more than i do.

fyi, I dont depend on my friends to do things which I can easily do by myself.
I also do not need to pay my frens who help me.
$20 just to clean headlights and you still call him a friend?

Autosol works like a sandpaper but in liquid form. It works because you simply sand off the outer layer of the plastic and reveal the layer undernealth so it looks shinny right after you polish it with autosol.

The problem is how do you seal of the exposed layer of plastic? If you can not seal the top layer then you are polishing for nothing because it'll turn yellowing again and sooner then before because the protective layer of the plastic has been sanded off.

i agree with Hikaru. tried using Autosol Plastic cleaner for my A32 headlamps. looks good after cleaning. however, it turned yellowish after few months.

so, should i say the conclusion will be ---> get a new headlamps!

or theres a good solution for them? anyone try Dr.Dent b4? heard they can clean yellowish headlamp but how long does it last??
