I dont know why just recently 2 weeks already. I found that sometimes is hard for me to shift gears .. example: when I'm stuck in massive jam, sometimes I will stepped on the clutch pedal for too long, so then when I was about to shift to 2nd gear is like I did not step on the clutch when shifting gear

I'm having a hard time driving around for the past few days .. so change the clutch to racing clutch? worth changing for a 1.3? brand recommendations? price ranging? because of this my car cannot run smooth :(

I just changed my gearbox oil a month ago. Castrol 80W/90

massive jam? try not to hold your clutch for too long, can cause the clutch to burn, that's what i hear from other ppl and i take the advice.

When the clutch is not working good, several problem might have cause it.

Bad habit of driving, such as holding and shifting gears not within the normal constrain is the main cause.

Dont think of changing racig clutch as because the racing clutch is designed in such a way configured for racing and if you plan to use it for normal use, it definitely going to cost you not only the clutch itself but also the future maintainance cost.

Such as the life span of the clutch is much shorter, the fuel comsumption due to it differ gear ratio, the use of better grade of gear lube and the list goes on.

I always advice for normal people, normal use of their vehicles, they should try their best to get back to OE products at all time to prevent all those nasty and unseen hidden cost of modification or such.

You can try to use a 75W 80 of gear lube than the normal 80W 90 because as in city driving, it is much better feel using lower viscosities, same goes for the engine oil, but however, the recommendation of manufacturer is still work best(usually ;) )

In the market, I think CEPSA and Mobil carry the grade of 75W 80 ger lube but I think CEPSA products is little more economical and provide excellent performance as Mobil does.

Fugz,

Hmm never heard that hold the clutch will cause the clutch to burn? why does it burn?? care to explain..... newbie here..... only heard about releasing half the clutch will cause the clutch to burn while accelerating....

simplythebest,

Sounds like a clutch pump failure, my car last time even worse, the car start moving even when i stepped on the clutch for too long.

After disassemble the clutch pump then found out the seal is worn out. When you step the clutch, the seal pushes the oil which increases the pressure so that the clutch will "free". when the seal is not functioning, some of the oil will flow back even when ur stepping on the pedal which lead to the lost in pressure then clutch will slowly engaged back.

My 2 cents of exp.

I encounter the funny part again yesterday when stuck in traffic jam, it only happened when I stepped on the clutch pedal too long .. if not, the car will move like normal not jerking.

ok I will keep an eye my clutch pump .. clutch pump change every how many Km's? .. not sure about this  .. is it something similar like brake pad? just change the pad?

urr... i'm not sure abt this.. one of my fren face the same thing like you, Simplythebest. but he is driving GTI. he face a difficulties for changing gear 1 to 2 and reverse gear as well! guess what... after checking his clutch and engine.. we found out that his clutch oil was empty! there is a small clutch oil tank in his car... is the GTI clutch system same as yours?

another colleague of mine driving wira 1.5 manual, the injection model. hard to masuk gear 1, especially at traffic jam. later the whole clutch burn... have to change the whole clutch system....

hope this will give you some info.. ;)

Simplythebest, racing clutch is very stiff too....During traffic jam,aiyo....horiible bai... :)

Thanks all bosses B)

I will double check the clutch pump and other parts ... and I think my clutch pedal need some setting .. very slow lare to launch the car. :( .. if you know what I mean .. like jerking ler. :(

before u check for the cluth pump.. u may wan to check for any leak. If your clutch pedal like sotong.. means no pressure. A leaking clutch hose may cause this problem... difficulty in engaging gears.. or having a 'krraaacckk' sound when shifting shows a worn clutch plate. or worst.. your GB has reached its time for an overhaul. Your problem sounds like u are experiencing cluth slip. I reckon you to change the clutch and plate.. have the flywheel checked as well.

is the issues solve yet? Andrew how izzit? whatz the problems? pls do share with us....

hmm, nothing happened .. like normal ;) .. unless I stuck in jam then sure got problem. When I change my brake pad next time I will check the clutch pump together. ;) .. still new ler, thats why dont want to change any parts 1st.
