Alfa Romeo 156 enquiry???

Hi Romeo Enthusiasts,

I plan to get an Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 Q-Matic 24 Valve, year 2001. I have got many negative feedback on the Romeo's in terms of reliability and cost of parts & mantainance. How far is this true? or is it just a myth based on its history troubled models? What would be the average cost of mantainance? usual repairs? fuel consumption? reliability of this model? any other mysterious hidden cost? This Italian Pride is one my fav's besides the BMW e36 328i where am considering either one. What would be an average salary to own this beauty?

Do shed some light and hopefully I could get the ride and have some TT with you guys when I'm officially a Romeo owner.
