sifus,
i just got my boost controller and am wondering if i should set the actuator rod to boost little or boost alot? i mean i can control all that thru the boost controller. however when i put the % at 0, i still boost up to .8bar. i don't mind if i can't boost lower, but is it more advisable to set the actuator rod at min boost or max boost?

thank you!

boost controller cannot lower down the boost, only can increase boost... so set your actuator to the lowest boost level you want....

thanks
yeah thats roughly the conclusion i got...
:)

hi guys,

how do you adjust the actuator rod? by bending it more?

helps appreciated

my actuator rod was cut off into two and rewelded...

personally I dont think you should do that.. might introduce leaking.. :)

was just thinking

maybe we can bend the rod more..right?

induce a little leaking thus more boost

my actuator rod has a adjustment screw to it... original volvo :P
what you can do is add washers to the actuator brackets to push the actuator further from the flap(or sumthin like tat... can't remember add washer to where)... or alternatively, cut and weld in adjustment screw to the rod :)

I believe bending the rod doesnt allow for more boost.. It allows leaking.. Unless you can bend it in a way that it actually gets longer.. :p

The rod opens your wastegate however it is the actuator which controls when to pull (or isit push?) your rod to open your wasetgate..

the actuator push the rod to open wastegate.

another method to increase boost and lower boost creep is using spring like this..
tada...:p

blur civic, for my case, using a td05 the arm is not straight. It's bended like _/~ where as the "~" is straight la.

Maybe i can straightened a little on the "s" shape rod? to ensure that the flap closes?

Suppose actuator to be pulling, not pushing right?

can someone confirm about this?

VESTAX~!!!!!

hmm.. reading this again..maybe some will blur..:D

the actuator is always in pull state.
when preset boost achived the actuator will be push by the boost create at the turbo outlet, opening the wastegate.

harder spring/actuator pull will increase boost.

but bro..original evo3 turbo no spring rite? can i juz ad up d spring? where to get d spring a? hv to weldin a? will add up spring cause any problem?> thanks...

im quite good in car..juz my major weakness is turbo...i dunno bout it n no knowledge..so gotta ask sifu's here.....

about evo3 actuator im not sure. must be got spring inside rite? to pull the actuator rod. but im not sure.:)

the spring mod just a test for my car. i just hook the spring to the actuator holder and at the rod i use those "thing" to tighten hose. hose clamp izitt the name.?

but if u want to increase boost using bleed valve also can.. those tulang ikan. but be careful when adjusting ur boost.
im not responsible for any damaged.

im also new into this turbo stuff. just done alot of reading from the net.

Eco3 is using actuator to control boost.. unless you added some aftermarket parts? wastegate? boost controller?

rorytate, i think i get what you mean... hmm.. feel like trying that on my own.. hahaha.. :p

yeah... actuator pushes the wastegate.. i just remembered once my actuator rod clip came out.. had to hand pull the rod to fit it back in temporarily.. hence my wastegate was open 24/7.. driving was normal.. but the car felt like a drag machine.. hahaha... exhaust coming out from under instead of behind...

LOLs, blur civic....yes you are right...

yes it's always in pull state, upon reaching the correct vacumn, it will push the rod.

So should we lengthen the rod ? or shorten it?
