Hoping i will have some luck posting some Qs in this thread, looks a bit dated

Owning a 4g63t in a perdana and have these probs

i) Full-throttle at 2nd gear, when RPM hits >4k can feel very apparent vibration. Pretty much jerking all the way and losing power (feels like) as well. Upshifting to 3rd solves it though

ii) Slow rolling on 2nd/3rd gear, when i depress the accelerator there is a metal rubbing sound but usually when ambient temp is high

iii) There is a loud krakk sound when i downshift from 5th to 4th when speedo is >100kmh. Shifting to 3rd and then 4th ok though

iv) Clutch-in pedal feels a lot harder or much more tension when the car temp is high. Early morning is fine though



Have a mech checked the following, looks good

i) Drive-shafts intact. Rubber boots look ok
ii) Upper/Lower clutch pumps are fine, no leaking
iii) Changed the gear-oil (LSD)



Any help guys ?

Sounds like the synchromesh in your gearbox or maybe u ought to get ur whole gearbox checked...

I have a question..if anyone is free enuf to answer...

Ive found a Satria GTi evo 3 (overhauled engine)... am planning to buy it.
Based on all your experiences, would it be advisable?
Or are most of you already facing problems here and there with the engine? Due to its age?

I know everyone here are big fans of the engine... but i really need an honest opinion... Been doing research and although most people say its a tough engine as long as its in stock condition, i cant help but be worried when i read about the few different problems you guys have posted here..

Sounds like.

1) Need new engine mounts
2) Need to overhaul gearbox, most likely synchromesh is gone.

Metal rubbing sound is normal for our engine, it's the sound the intake/manifold makes under pressure.

im newbie here..i just would like to ask an opinion from sifu here.. i found one wira evo3 want to let go, but always thinking about this issue becoz nowadays JPJ wont approve wira with 2litres engine rite..actually it already been endorsed by the owner but i just afraid problem occur during changing name process coz nowadays we need to go inspection again rite during changing car owner?...realy need sifu advice here...thanks..

Ya man.. 04 is much better for me. hahaha! but 05 when 3rd gear to 5th gear fucking nice the feeling. haahaaa!

this is small matter,just get one 4g67 and get fairlady piston the 300zx that one,mix your evo head and all wring and gear box,sure u can past by jpj....

Im getting a Perdana '99- '01 and stuck between 4G63T or V6a12TT transplant..
Can the Perdana stock V6 mounting actually fit a 4G engine?
