Hey guys... Wow.. couldnt imagine that the discussion still carries on..
Jubugz, just saw the pic of ur UDM and I must say that it looks cool.. Minimalist and simple.. I too believe that what's inside that counts.. And I must say you are almost achieving ur target horsepower!!.. U must be extremely excited now..
Zoggee, u said that u bro converted his e36 328i from auto to manual.. Was it a simple or extremely complicated process? How's the power hike? IMHO, I dont think there would be any increase in power..but perhaps more control of the power available.. I have to agree with Ingols that Merc interiors are more skewered towards the taste of uncles.. Well, some of the AMG ones do try to look sporty.. BUt the usual ones are more geared towards showing the owner's wealth.. Audis and BMWs interiors are almost the same.. Simple and sporty.. Ingols, just read about the new RS4 in Aussie mag Motor.. and that thing sounds very impressive.. Will have to wait for the new M3 for a head to head challenge..
Hi ZeeDr,
Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it! :)
I have more pics just waiting to load on. I'm also removing the Hamann side skirts and rear bumper next week and swap it for Rieger and Seidl to make it look more aggressive and slick. Then more pics to follow.
Yes I'm exicted about the 300rwhp dyno dynamics target but we are thinking about the tranny. ESS and I were discussing about it as we don't know of it's limits. If I do blow the tranny then I'll be changing it to the E36 M3 getrag tranny. Then there will be no hesitation to boost more and more.
As for the power target, I believe I have already reached or surpass 300rwhp if it was dynoed on a dynojet dyno. This is the commonly used dyno in the US and UK. You will notice in PBMW mag that there is a lot of crazy high power output claims from their dynos. The Aussie's commonly use dyno dynamics, which has a different inertia drum to the other brands.
So far I'm happy that my car has already surpassed a stock E46 M3(250rwhp dyno dynamics) in hp and torque.
As for the tranny swap.. there will be a slight power increase to the wheels of about minimum 5%. Engine power will always be the same. It's the power from the crank transfered through the tranny and wheels that counts. So for example, my car is steptronic, and if I had changed the tranny right this moment, then I should be seeing a minimum of 5% increase of power to the wheels. Which is 273.5+5%=287rwhp. :D
A bit expensive to do and the ECU and EMS needs to be changed to a manual one.
haha.. I never liked the Merc interiors either.. I just had only mentioned it. I think the 7 series interior is far better looking than the S-class. I don't like audi's square boxy buttons... but then again.. they are getting better. I agree wit BMW's new 3 series looking a bit simple and preserved.. But then again it gives this looks of clean and tidyness for some reason.
You read Motor mag too aye? I liked the new RS4... it looks good too. Very nice engine and similar specs to the new M3 too! I still think the M3 would edge out unless Audi has fixed the handling weaknesses.
And btw ZeeDr.. you should come more often into your thread you started man! :)
Have a nice day!!
