328i Lost to A4T

The more I look at E30 M3's the more it's slowly growing on me... :)

Jugbugz,

I've test drove an E30 with the transplanted S50....it was awesome.!!! Totally awesome.!! But nothing beat the original M3...mind blowing, dude!

I've spent a bomb on my car handling..and it doesnt handle like an M3 at all.

Cool... Do you mean that it handles better or worse? haha just kidding..
I can tell by your drift... it's very very smooth and well balanced... nice setup! :)

I prefer forced induction over transplanted engines and have the original engine in original body.

So are you going to turbo your e30? I bet you could do a drift twice as long as what you did in your pic. 300bhp with torque to match would be very very nice. :)

Jugbugz,

Yes..I rather have an original factory rolled out M3s...No doubt.!!

Dude,I'm not that good of a driver....just love to burn some donuts thats all.
I was coming out from a donuts..not a drift ,dude.

there's a vids on my stock M20B25 e30 against my bro's E36328(auto tranny). Go youtube..you'll be able to see from there. Now...his 328 is on a stick.!! I have to issues with BMW running on stick.

Wow..... you guys are real petrol heads...

On the contrary, i do agree that Audis are currently still not on par with BMWs as having the same driving dynamics, fun oversteer and sharp handling etc.... but thats due their believe in quattro that led the engine sitting on the front wheels.. and quattros are good for tracks.....

Merc interiors? hmm it's like a mix and match of chocolate candy bars with smooth layered caramel .... i liked Audi's industrial, briefcase-like looks.

hahaha... nice pic though... It really looks like some long consecutive drifts and now that you mentioned it was a burnout.. it really can look like both.. nice one.. many people could have took it as a drift..

Could you post a link from youtube.. Thanks

Dude, this is something I'm not proud of. But here's the link.

I was running on Getrag240 tranny and 3.73 rear diff. My Bro's E36 was running on auto tranny. Now he is on manual tranny, whoa...that car can run.

Hey guys... Wow.. couldnt imagine that the discussion still carries on..
Jubugz, just saw the pic of ur UDM and I must say that it looks cool.. Minimalist and simple.. I too believe that what's inside that counts.. And I must say you are almost achieving ur target horsepower!!.. U must be extremely excited now..
Zoggee, u said that u bro converted his e36 328i from auto to manual.. Was it a simple or extremely complicated process? How's the power hike? IMHO, I dont think there would be any increase in power..but perhaps more control of the power available.. I have to agree with Ingols that Merc interiors are more skewered towards the taste of uncles.. Well, some of the AMG ones do try to look sporty.. BUt the usual ones are more geared towards showing the owner's wealth.. Audis and BMWs interiors are almost the same.. Simple and sporty.. Ingols, just read about the new RS4 in Aussie mag Motor.. and that thing sounds very impressive.. Will have to wait for the new M3 for a head to head challenge..

ZeeDR,

Actually the conversion is not that hard....its just , the time we had to wait to get an chopped E36 with manual tranny.I was lucky, manage to haggle and got the LSD and the Intrument Cluster as well.

There's no power gained, handling wise....on E36?? Dude,we cant get the handling we wanted until we got our hands on the Racing Dynamic Suspension kit.

Hi ZeeDr,

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it! :)
I have more pics just waiting to load on. I'm also removing the Hamann side skirts and rear bumper next week and swap it for Rieger and Seidl to make it look more aggressive and slick. Then more pics to follow.

Yes I'm exicted about the 300rwhp dyno dynamics target but we are thinking about the tranny. ESS and I were discussing about it as we don't know of it's limits. If I do blow the tranny then I'll be changing it to the E36 M3 getrag tranny. Then there will be no hesitation to boost more and more.

As for the power target, I believe I have already reached or surpass 300rwhp if it was dynoed on a dynojet dyno. This is the commonly used dyno in the US and UK. You will notice in PBMW mag that there is a lot of crazy high power output claims from their dynos. The Aussie's commonly use dyno dynamics, which has a different inertia drum to the other brands.
So far I'm happy that my car has already surpassed a stock E46 M3(250rwhp dyno dynamics) in hp and torque.

As for the tranny swap.. there will be a slight power increase to the wheels of about minimum 5%. Engine power will always be the same. It's the power from the crank transfered through the tranny and wheels that counts. So for example, my car is steptronic, and if I had changed the tranny right this moment, then I should be seeing a minimum of 5% increase of power to the wheels. Which is 273.5+5%=287rwhp. :D

A bit expensive to do and the ECU and EMS needs to be changed to a manual one.

haha.. I never liked the Merc interiors either.. I just had only mentioned it. I think the 7 series interior is far better looking than the S-class. I don't like audi's square boxy buttons... but then again.. they are getting better. I agree wit BMW's new 3 series looking a bit simple and preserved.. But then again it gives this looks of clean and tidyness for some reason.

You read Motor mag too aye? I liked the new RS4... it looks good too. Very nice engine and similar specs to the new M3 too! I still think the M3 would edge out unless Audi has fixed the handling weaknesses.

And btw ZeeDr.. you should come more often into your thread you started man! :)

Have a nice day!!

Oh hi... I'm just next door. . . Happy Garden.

referring to the earlier 328i vs 2.0tfsi shootout, the 2.0tfsi over here is equipped with a CVT so gearing is pretty much optimum for the audio.
