Two new Kia models to boost sales

KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Kia Sdn Bhd expects a 10% growth in its car sales with the launch of two new models, Kia Optima and Kia Spectra5, yesterday.
Naza Group of Companies chairman and chief executive officer Tan Sri S.M. Nasimuddin S.M. Amin said the target was achievable as the automotive market had been showing an upward trend and the new products were a good fit to the Malaysian market.
“We expect sales to be encouraging with 750 units of Kia Optima and 1,500 units of Kia Spectra5 anticipated to be sold by year-end,” he told reporters after unveiling the vehicles.
Nasimuddin said the 1.6-litre Kia Spectra5 was aimed at the value-conscious Malaysian buyer, with 400 units expected to be sold a month.
“Meanwhile, the two-litre Kia Optima, which earned the highest possible safety rating for crash impact by the US Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is targeted at business professionals. About 200 units are expected to be sold monthly,” he added.

Both models have a warranty of five years or 125,000km, whichever comes first.
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, who officiated at the event, said the launch was timely as it was before the festival season, during which there was a tendency for customers to change vehicles or buy new ones.
“The automotive industry is important in the development of the manufacturing sector in Malaysia as well as establishing a presence in emerging markets,” she said. She added that the industry had evolved from assembling operations to manufacturing motor vehicles and components and was now into the realm of research, product design and engineering.

i love the spectra5... stylish, sleek and lovely... definately better than proton but like i said before... i don't hate proton and i don't like them either... they just need time to grow... the persona is the first step... slowly they're getting matured... the optima is quite nice also... based on the picture, it looks like altis from behind... just from the picture... real one i dunno...

yes anytime better than proton .. anybody here driving KIA ?? wana know the engine capability and durability

torgue converter... couldnt stop laughing at that!!
better spell check before u copy n paste everything!

122ps... quite high eh...considering the campro already musters 110bhp...
1.6 FSI also 115ps only... torque also 2 Nm lower.... must investigate abit on this engine now...

The Kia Optima should be based on the current Sonata and the Spectra 5 on the new Accent. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry bout the typo.

FYI the 2007 spectra5 engine differs from other markets spectra5/cerato5 by having a CVVT engine, the exact same engine in the new Kia Cee'd...

Cheap & Very Under-power Koreans .... not much better than current KIA line-up ..... long way to equal the quality & performance of those conti & japs car.

very under powered? on paper the engine looks powerful.. maybe this weekend pergi naza test abit... wonder how many real ponies will make it into the production spec... bear in mind 122ps is already on euro-4 emission regulation. (from the uk cee'd website claims)

objectively , it looks like a better buy compared to a 1.5E vios and city idsi.

cum on man .... on paper HP!

No way to compare KIA with IDSi, VTEC, VVTi ...... TFSi.... jz daydream la!

One thing.... the engine smoothness, Ride Quality, Handling, Economy .....

Kia jz one step above proton only .... Jz begin to learn how to make a good car

thats y la i say on paper the number looks impressive! :P

but this photo very disturbing. i used to remember the kia vehichles always boast about their safety stars. looks like for the cerato, its deteriorating. the chassis rails deformed massively.

3 stars, 19 points for cerato
4 stars, 29 points for a 2005 side-airbag equipped Sirion/Myvi.
