2006 Indianapolis, USA

the man who deserves much applause in the USGP is trulli who started from the pit lane, though he benefited from the safety car's outing i think he did a pretty good job & quick times in that toyota with heavy fuel.

if montoya didnt cause that mess, it will be a more greater show, i pretty sure the mclarens & honda (j,button) will overtake alonso too and leave him further behind the points. its just not his day.

agree with cclems, Alonso may have fall outside point scoring position if 2 McLarens were able to race until the end. But you may not know, maybe McLarens overtook 2 Ferrari as well and the point different between Schumi and Alonso remain the same.

In any crash you take your hand off the steering wheel so it wont jerk in different directions and break your thumbs- next time you watch WRC see how the drivers put their hands on the wheel.

Ron should fry Montoya's ass

Interesting thoughts. Seriously, how does rally drivers put their hands on the wheel?

actually the safety car did not benefited Trulli much... it came out too early in the race where there wasn't that much big a gap to the lead group of cars... it was actually his race pace that helped him quite a lot...

McLarens might have post a threat to Alonso... i think they are fuelled quite heavy... too bad they took each other out...

actually come to think of it it is quite through... you see WRC driver tend to put up their hands like a someone surrendering when their car rolls over....they also never hold on to the roof jus in case it collapses...

but WRC has a lot of hazards like big boulders and trees on the road...i think a race track would not cause a steering wheel to flick such violently...

They put their hands on the outside of the wheel with their thumbs on the top or outside the wheel. The thumbs are not rested on the inside stems of the wheel incase you hit a rock that will suddent jerk spin the wheel can catch your thumbs- *ouch*

Yeah, i get it now. It simply means they don't grip the wheel when they know they're about to crash. Basically in rally cars, you're a passenger once you slid off the track and down the ravine. Rally definitely is alot more risky than F1. I remember watching a really mortifying crash on Tommi Makkinen few years back. He literally flew off the track, was in air at least 10 secs(maybe a little less) and crashed violently into trees and rocks and the car actually turned a couple of times before stopping. He was fine. The car was beyond recognition.

i just watch the replay of indy 2006 at TV3
QUESTION!
who is the chicks in Renault pit when the first corner accident happen?
Flavio new GF?

the first corner accident steal the dim light of Takuma Sato, this time the kamikaze ramp into Tiago Monteiro. FIA shall revoke his F1 super license, just like Yuki Ide.

Was watching the highlights of the Champ car race at cleveland where Justin Wilson went off the road and the commentator yelled out "let go the wheel Justin!" just before he hit the wall and the wheel went crazy.

Yeah that girl in the Renault pits was quite cute.

Anyone know who the girl at the ZTH booth was at Sepang during the Super GT?

Ron Dennis' statement about 2006 indy first corner incident.
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=123098

Team boss Ron Dennis commented, "We have looked at our data and the footage from various cameras and it's clear that as is often the case with accidents several things happened in close sequence. Heidfeld heavily squeezed Button, who squeezed Juan Pablo. Prior to those cars touching Juan Pablo ran into the back of Kimi who was making every effort to keep out of trouble. Inevitably the team feels intense frustration and disappointment when its cars are eliminated as a result of touching each other. However this was a racing incident and should be treated as such."
Ron Dennis, respect! Sound like both his drivers are the greatest victim of the incident, but he decide not to take further action because it's just a normal racing accident.

what can he say? "I was dumb enough to hire a driver dumb enough to take out both my cars after flying across all the way from england to race 10m at indy"

Yeah, thats the sickest thing that can happen to any team in F1! Being taken out by your own team mate in a race like a thousand KM away from your hometown. Furthermore, at the first lap.

Looking at Ron Dennis's statement, it sounds too diplomatic. I'm sure privately, you'd hear a more straight to the point insult to the drivers.

haha and at the cost of 10K euros per meter..i think they at least had done 100Meters...I think Ron was just trying to cover up after montoya causing him to lose face...hehehhe
