How do you guys start your Gtr?

Just a question.

How do you guys start your Gtr?
Depress the Clutch and Start the Engine
or
Start the Engine without depressing the clutch?

Any difference for the above two methods?

BNR34? Can't start without depressing the clutch one wor.

Mine's a BNR32,

I always start the car with a smile and end with a wider smile..

Probably Nissan did not deploy this system for the first genaration of Bnr34.
As for my Brother's V-spec2, the clutch has to be engaged before you can start.

My Bnr34 V-Spec does not need to engage the clutch to start the engine.
I found that it is easier to start up the car by engaging the clutch first.

Anyone has this experience?

AFAIK, the earliest BNRs were launched in '99 and I'm sure there are a few guys here that have one. Surely they can confirm if that's normal. It's entirely possible though.

It's basically a safety feature to prevent people from starting the car while still in gear. I have the same car as your brother and if started manually, then the clutch must be depressed but if started remotely then the clutch is bypassed.

as far as I know... apart from the 'safety' reason, there is no other significant benefit from starting the car with clutch depressed... so? just crank away!!

Well, I guess so. It's probably better to make it a habit of always making sure the car is in neutral regardless of whatever safety features the car comes with. Make it part of your routine - enter car, immediately lock doors, check mirrors, put on seatbelt, make sure the gearstick is in neutral and then start the car.

In short, if you have a V-spec/Standard spec with grey interior, you wont need to press the clutch.. but if it has a black interior, you have to press the clutch to start

So it's like the Subaru as well; mine needed the clutch to be depressed as opposed to earlier ones. They should make it a standard feature on all manual cars.

1) Key-in turn to ignition I.
2) Check all lights appear.(eg:abs,engine, a-lsd,4wd and bla bla bla)
3) Wait until ABS light disappear, then press clutch pedal and turn engine ON.

*My car engine can't start without press clutch pedal, my car model is BNR34 V-Spec2*
