Inside Koenigsegg Episode 3 Shares the Million-Dollar Paintjob for the Agera R

The first thing that makes a car looking astounding from the outside, aside from its wonderfully-designed exterior is the paint job. And while bathing a mass-produced car with paint is not much of a challenge, the coat of paint that goes onto a million-dollar masterpiece like the Koenigsegg Agera R takes more than a machine to do the job properly.

The third episode of the Inside Koenigsegg series takes us to the process of laying down the paint for this carbon-clad Swedish machine. And like how unique each of every Koenigsegg is, they will give the customers the freedom in choosing the color their Agera R will be painted with, and not forgetting the option to choose which part/section of the car they want the carbon fiber weaves to be revealed.

But with such exclusivity, the hours required to both paint and polish until it passes Koenigsegg’s quality check is just insane. Each car takes about 200 hours of labor that combines both precision and the upmost attention to detail, and that is only for the polishing process. The cars also sport a 150 micron clear coat of paint, simply translated as three times the depth sprayed on an average car to withstand years of polishing and chips.

If the last two episodes were a bit too technical for your understanding, than this third installment should be a breeze. If you were to own one of these, would you leave the carbon weaves naked or painted up with the color of your dreams?
