Setting the a/f ratio different from the default value will damage our car?

yup engine will knocking or lost power when not well tune......

ya...TOO rich (AFR<11.0) is also not good(which is the case for most factory standard ECU settings)...thats why, u need SAFC to re-tune it to be somewhere below stoich (AFR=12.0-13.5) so that u can get the best out of ur engine...

Ideal A/F ratios :
Stoich at iddling

Lean at cruising

Rich at acceleration

Rich A/F ratio condition over long term causes many problems. Among them are higher compression, preignition and excessive sludge buildup.

So its pays (literally) to send your SAFC to be tuned by a professional using either DYno or at least a Wide Band.
