Just read up about the Direct Shift Gearbox....

here's what wiki says:

Extremely fast shift time of 8 milliseconds when shifting to a gear the secondary gear shaft has preselected;
Consistent shift time of 500 milliseconds, regardless of throttle or operational mode;
Better fuel economy than conventional planetary geared automatic transmission (due to lower parasitic losses from oil churning) and for many models even than the manual-shift version;

which is all good but greater potential for failure due to complexity?

its offered for the passat in malaysia or not, turbolover?

Yup! Ori is the best.
Hey, heard that a no. of carmakers today don't seem to include a proper seal to car doors during production.Does the Passat CC have this issue as well ah?

I see one almost every other day here in the UK.

They are good looking cars for sure but in Msia, three things:

1. Price will be very nasty (at least twice the brand new price over here)
2. Depreciation will be devastating
3. Maintenance after warranty period will be a nightmare - expensive parts, poor availability, high labour costs

Probably the only alternative is a CLS - much better option for Msian drivers I reckon. Lower depreciation (mercedes maaaaa) and much better parts & servicing backup.

I read somewhere that frameless doors, which are usually known for their wind noise, are present here... but VW claims a new type of guide system won’t give the wind anything to catch!

Hi Gobiz...kinda agree with you. Hehe..Yea, just get a Merc. Settled..

About the spare parts, maybe it will be more easily available?
VW’s Malaysian head said that the company was considering Malaysia as a sourcing hub for auto components for its global production given the many high-tech companies based here which have managed to fulfil the needs of international suppliers. Something for you to check it out: :)

You know what the Passat CC is actually slightly more spacious than the Merc. Its performance also does not pale THAT much

Talking about door sills and stuff boils down to your luck as well.not all are defective and not all are problem free.even frameless window do have rubber sills as well.Well i won't say that merc's depreciation is gradual.some are very cheap after 4 or 5 years of use due to the difficulty of disposing the vehicle as parts are not cheap and ppl who have the money will rather get a new continental.
