UMW Toyota Motor reassures local customers delivery unaffected by earthquake in Japan

The recent 8.9-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck north eastern Japan on March 11 has resulted in the temporary suspension of operations at some of the world’s largest auto manufacturers.

UMW Toyota Motor is reassuring its local public and customers that there will be no interruption in the supply of Toyota and Lexus models sold locally by the company. All branches will continue receiving sales and orders as usual with no disruptions in the delivery schedule.

Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan has taken the step to temporarily suspend production at all its plants as the company places the highest priority on ensuring the safety of every employee at its factories. All its plants will be shut down from 14 March up to 16 March.

UMW Toyota Motor is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to keep the public and its customers updated from time to time.

The recent 8.9 earthquake which hit Japan has had devastating effects on the country: thousands are feared dead and a lot of land is now underwater due to a huge tsunami that followed. Several Japanese car makers who have factories on the coast are affected as well, including Honda, Subaru and Nissan, who all have closed their plants. In addition, the powerful tsunami swooped and destroyed a lot of finished cars waiting to be shipped off, as you can see on the image above, taken in Hitachinaka City. Cars are one thing, people are another, and we sure hope that folks are alright in Japan and getting all the help they need.

no wonder toyota is not effected :)

i think for fully import model like Toyota Prius will be affected by the earthquake...

yup... Prius orders will be halt for a while. Toyota not directly affected but unfortunately a reliable source from UMW Toyota told me that the factory that made the Prius battery is actually gone! Toyota looking for other alternative in the mean time.
