Hi guys,
I'm thinking as a future upgrade I would want to get a standalone ECU. My friend has been poisoning me with VPro even before I got my car, so I need feedback and recommendation from you guys on VPro, Ralliart ECU for Evo 6 and  Motec.

About the Ralliart ECU, anyone here used it before? I read somewhere this ECU requires high octane petrol. Is our local petrol sufficient? If not, what will happen?

Some info: My car is stock, and I drive it everyday.

octane not high enuff = harder to derive power as compared to 100 octane....

Ralliart ECU is not programmable, and it was pretuned to Japanese standard octane of 100 RON. However, it is safe enough for our 97 RON for sure. Don't worry, it will run fine on your car.

try haltech or autronic. both are quality ecu from australia. off course if you got the budget go for the ultimate MOTEC system. is the best but very costly. this are all programmable ECU. you can add in the antilag (misfiring system) and launch control. you will have fun with it.

What kind of performance improvements can I get if the ECU is tuned properly? What other related hardware do I need to support the new ECU (if any)? :)

i think u can get around 30hp extra by adding a standalone ecu. if yur car is standard.

So in your opinion, which should I get first? ECU or other mods?

usually with ecu.....bare minimal u should have is some fuel regulator, fuel pump n boost controller........cams or no cams....dats kinda optional....as for turbo or engine internals upgrade...those r considered another stage lor......always consult your mechanic the best ;)

Hi Bernard,
Just my opinion, if u prefer to maintain ur engine stock so can easily drive daily.. it is a waste if u going for standalone type ecu ie haltech, microtech etc.
if u need just around +50hp, u just need something like 'sub-ecu' type ie safc,e-manage etc. save money and achieve ur objective.

Thanks for all your feedback guys. About the cost of getting an ECU, I saw the Ralliart ECU for Evo6 on sale in MEOC's website. It's an old post so I don't know if it's still available. The asking price was RM1800, similar to a piggyback system.

One more question about this Ralliart ECU. How's the fuel consumption if I'm not racing? I know there's A/F and ignition timing optimisation, just that does it optimise for good fuel economy during normal driving as well?

Ralliart ECU should be used together with exhaust mod, boost controller and filter upgrade to maximize effect. If you want fuel economy, then forget about any mods and keep it stock.

Firstly......what mod u have and list down, then ppl can give you advise. What is you're goal? Street driving?
You can get a SAFC to get a better FC with good tuning but again.......this device does not override speed cut...and there are more things.....:burnout:
Fuel comsumption does not relate if you racing or not, how heavy your right foot is and how high you boosting.
Go for TT and get some info from the bosses there..............thats what tt is all about i guess............share and care

I don't have any mods except for a HKS blow-off valve, a HKS turbo timer and a pretty big exhaust. Everything else is standard. Standard piping, intercooler, air filter, cams, ECU, clutch, brakes, etc.

My goal is to be able to improve performance on street driving, acceleration, response, and yes, to beat any STi on the roads :burnout:. Nice meeting you too, Chris!

Heard from Chris and also read an old post from DDGreystar that the Ralliart ECU is not too fantastic. How about Mine's VX-ROM and PowerFC?

Bernard....

Flashed inputed ECUs such as Tomei, Mines, Ralliart, not to say no good, in fact these r very gud products back in Japan, just dat ....over here our RON level does not match their inputed values characteristics....moreover usually dis patented ECU are customised accordingly to end users rides.....so unless u know wat the ecu is customised based on wat factors.....usually its hard to say it will become vey useful in your everyday ride......some ecus might even have boost cut or rev cut invovlved.......so its hard to say for sure these customised ecus r good n reliable........n dat is why over here in the market there r tons of such items floating around......unless u just wan some nominal feel of power n dats about it....then i see no harm in getting 1....however as per price is around rm1.8k tentatively..........a lot more end users are simply willing to go for aftermaket ecus such as haltec, vpro, pfc, autronic, motech....(maybe some other jiao jiao tech hahaha) these ecus can be TUNED n customised accordingly to their respective mods....depending on wat the owner has in his car......n the power band, response, can aso be determined as per owner requires........

p/s DDgreystar say not so fantastic becoz has tried 1 b4 with another member, dropped the idea....n joined the dark side of APEXI POWERFC :))
BTW.....there r a few ppl in mloc on e6 using PFC if i not mistaken.....ask B18C..i sure he can tell u much more :D

last time i try tomei ecu before, its sucks, not suitable for my car setting, even worse the my ori ecu.

what i got is heavy fuel, rpm around 2k when idel and car shaking, so i returned it to the seller.

try to plug in and test first before u buy.

and i heard those ralliart setting are for those tarmac offroad use only.

What DD said is correct. Since you have no mod i would suggest to say on stock ECU. Why?? Once you start theres no ending ...ha ha haaaaa,
Unless your thinking for future mods. If pre-set ECU (ralliart, mines)cause rm1800 then better get a PFC 2nd hand RM2k.
