FC is doubled? That roof rack seems to have a great effect on your car. Then I don't know how does those GT wing car owner feel after they installed it. I used to thought that they don't make any difference if they din't come from reputable brands.

hehe, new year coming.....new year resolution is cut smoking or kicking the habit....

Speaking of GT wings, I noticed some cheapo ones had no angle adjustment. Donno whether it will create more drag than smoothing the air flow over the car body or not...

the example of picture give a simple but clear definition of spoiler or gt wing.. it provide downforce by letting the wind that pass by the roof to drag it... in simple physics, the wind put force on the spoiler or wing, and force will transfer the force to the stand of the spoiler or gt wing that attached to our car body, and since the force at the end are facing down to the ground, it provide down force.... there are several setting of the gt wing angle, but the simple concept is to reduce or increase the wind dragging force, .. if the wing is angle flat, flat like the car's roof, it will exert the less drag to the car and also the less downforce.... and the other way round, more angle, more drag but more downforce... the gt wing setting normally depend on the driver and also car builder when they drive around corner especially time attack, they will know how much downforce they need and can adjust the angle accordingly..

conclusion is that, for gt wing or spoiler, the downforce is directly proportional to the drag force, or simple the larger the drag, the larger the downforce as long as the wings or spoilers angle are set correct and not the other way round:wavey:

gt wing or spoilers are not the only aerodynamic stuff, nowadays even air duct and the car exterior shape can be part of it... unlike the environmental friendly prius streamline shape that mainly to cut through wind, the GTR35 , the design and the body are actually part of aerodynamic, not only cut through wind but channel it to the rear spoiler to make more downforce (BBC Top Gear, 2014):biggrin:
