Need a "double check" from u guys on which hose to tap on.
This is the gearbox example, I've done some homework, open my bonnet and look for some hoses that connect my GB and Radiator, However to my surprise, there are no such things, the hoses from my GB go to 2 different places.

1 go to firewall
1 go to engine

question is, does my GB is cooled by the radiator water?
Which means my GB oil is not pumped into radiator for cooling, if so, can I just extend the GB inlet piping to the the additional oil cooler before entering GB?

Attached is the GB pic, highlighted with red circle is the source of the piping.
Thanks in advance

What car do you drive again? ATOS? ATOS uses radiator to cool the ATF, if not the radiator then a thin tube under or behind the radiator

You can tap from the original cooling pipe or even by pass those and use the external cooler by itself. Your mechanic cannot help you on where to tap the piping?

Erm, ok then I will double check again the tubing.

What I'm curious about is, why there is a piping coming out from firewall to the GB? is the ATF pass by there? :hmmmm:
Attached is the pic of my gearbox tubing, that coming out from the two pipe highlighted at my previous post.

I will try to bypass the original cooling route if possible, after I know the cooling route of my GB.
I havent met my mechanic, plan to visit him this weekend. Yest just open up and try to survey myself.

Looks like, I can't do this oil cooler mod.
I just ask at Atos club, they said Atos GB is cooled by Radiator water coming INTO the GB, not ATF coming out to Radiator.
So I guess, I will just left it at factory settings... so sad :bawling:

That's a pretty efficient system if you ask me. Provided the radiator inlet is cool enough to cool your GB. Perhaps you can add an additional cooler in-between the GB and the radiator to further cool the coolant?

And that's the first time I've heard coolant going into a gb. Good info

First time hearing this too, but cannot digest. Like water cooling engine, it has water channels running throughout the inside of engine block. Now we are talking about cooling the atf, not cooling the GB?
Need to dig more info, or can someone can explain.....:hmmmm:

Different Atos?

Ah! if it goes into a heat ex-changer like the Sante model then I understand....

Yeah, I just know it also, so far I'm reading forums is all about the ATF cooler.
About the additional cooler before entering the GB, can I use the oil cooler I just bhot from chopshop? Can this oil cooler cool the radiator coolant?
I ask the guy in Atos club, they say cannot, water and oil is different... So I'm afraid to do so.

Wah, so it means the coolant and ATF will meet at the middle and then exchange heat?
Ic...
I thought that the water will just come in and "pusing2" inside the gearbox and then come out..

Thanks for the info.
Anyway, any other way to reduce the GB heat?
I only feel the shifting rough after climbing bukit or massive traffic jam, normal usage is ok

erm... what do you mean by "different Atos" ?
I think all Atoses should have the same cooling style, maybe he haven't discover the cooling system yet...

If it is like the heat exchanger from Sante Fe, then it's the same case as my Sylphy CVT. Just needs an adapter!

looks like atos implementing water cooled atf differently...

yes water came into heat exchanger (the top cylinder stuff like big engine oil filter)

if u want atf cooler...u need to replace that whole thing with adaptor....

high chance that oil cooler adaptor (for engine oil-filter adaptor) can be used...

What kind of adapter I needs?
So basically this adapter will enable the radiator water coolant to go into oil cooler?
When there's a will, there's a way. I can't tell you right now how to do it because I will need to check out your car itself to make an assessment.

Actually I feel a lil bit reluctant to do a complicated mods on this car since I will upgrade my ride anyway.

However I will still try it out for knowledge purpose.
I live at Setapak and there is a Korean gearbox specialist shop run by Korean guy nearby where I always change my GB oil there. I will try to ask that guy see what is his opinion.

Their site

Hopefully can dig out some answers.

No need complicated mod, just tap the atf line from exchanger out to cooler then back to transmission. Something like an extra cooler in between.

Hello fellow ZTH-ians:_: I'm having problems with my HID and i couldn't pinpoint the source.. When i switch on my headlamps it would look normal 10000k but after a while the bulb on the right starts to project yellow instead of the normal blue.. Is the ballast damaged or my car voltage is not stabalized? Thanks in advance for the help
