why no powerful wrx in sepang drag

My opinion..... the EVO 7+ series is a car with an extremely, ridiculously fast steering with a loose rear end, whereas the STI is a less manic car than the evo, it feels slightly more stable (in feeling) and it takes a different approach towards taking bends. Both are extremely fast point to point with mili-seconds difference in timing.

I have had the opportunity to drive an EVO7 recently and a WRX. The EVO certainly IS faster than the WRX, but NOT as fast as an STI (somehow very very close in the real world). However, there is a different feeling in how both approaches the corners. In full agreement with Faisal's statement, It all boils down to the driver, and only partly the car especially around bends. I recently had to opportunity to participate in the recent Subaru advance driver's course at Sepang. I drive a 1.6ts Impreza and the only mods were 17in wheels and rims. There was other 1.6 scoobies from Singapore which had God knows all the bolt on parts (chipped, CAI, pulley, 16in wheels etc) available and after 3 laps, they were all behind me and nowhere to be seen. The only cars lapping me were some of the WRXes, STIs and a Forrester or two. And on this day i also saw badly driven WRXs, being beaten on corners by better drivers (eg the instructor in a 1.6) or those overdriving their cars.

The only difference to owning an EVO compared to an Impreza basically boils down to character. Something that attracted me to scoobies. The flat4 sound is intoxicating, especially one with a bassy exhaust system. On the EVO, if i drove it at 40k/mh, it honestly actually feels like you're driving any ordinary mitsubishi (or a proton wiralution, satrialution etc.lution) with a loud exhaust. Honestly, try driving a wiralution with a 4g63 using a big bore exhaust system. It'll sound exactly the same...the only difference you can see is that you're in a car with a newer designed dashboard (sitting position's slightly similiar cept for the more adjustable steering wheel on the newer EVO). However, at 40k/mh in a Scooby (STI,wrx or any with a big bore exhaust), you'll be happily listening to an engine that sounds like nothing else on the market (in Malaysia) right now. And that's the only difference worth taking note. Dont get me wrong, its marvellous to own an drive an EVO, but some just want something different other than all out power. Two schools of philosophy on the same subject.

As for drag racing a WRX...not enuff experts on the carhere in Malaysia, anyway, its a waste of the fine chassis to just use it in a straight line. prefer watching a rallying scooby (or an EVO at that) than one going in a straight line.

That forumers, is my 2 sen worth.

in malaysia, not really subaru Drag car...

compared to Taiwan, which i see a lot of GC doing good drag times...

i prefer the comfort drive and Stability my AWD offers...
and handling as well...

If i go for Drag, i woul get a very cheap car...
Cause if you are Fast in Stand still, you win...

yup better take car normal car n dump in a powerfull engine then takin a
expensive car body for drag

but i still thinks that a gtti is faster
