hi friends,
I'm a new member. Just wonder anyone can help me. I'm driving a Toyota Corolla 1989 auto. My FC is quite high (RM50 for 220km, city drive). What can i do to reduce the FC? Change the engine (silver top 20v)? change car to SEG? heard SEG's FC quite good? can my car put in SEG engine? Thanks in advance.

If you are emphasis on FC, I suggest you change 16V halfcut from AE92. Frankly speaking, 20V is more for a track use engine whereas 16V will be good cor street use, so the 16V FC is better.

Ahchi, thanks for your reply. Is the 16V that you mentioned a fuel injection engine? if fuel injection meaning i have to change my dashboard as well? how much does it cost (halfcut + other expenses)?

I'm driving EE90 corolla SE with AE92 non-tvis engine. I bought the halfcut in year 2004 and that time the halfcut price is RM2.5k after discount and comes with rear absorber and also rear disc, fuel tank and fuel pump as well.

Labour charges for installing engine and all are RM1.5k including change timing belt, watever belt all to new set, new engine oil and filter and brake pads. All this were done in Klang my mechanic place.

Actually something need to be corrected, both 16v and 20v engine are proven and has been used for racing in track and it has no problem at all. U can't specifically said 16v is only for street use and 20v is only for track but in terms of hp and all there are differences. Even my car also went into sepang track before and has now in many years undergo lots of changes from bodywork paint, adding oil cooler kit, previous installed hi-cam and standalone ecu, absorber changed to aftermarket, upgrade of braking system, muffler, etc....

It all takes time and how passionate u wan to mod yr car and also cost budget as well.. unless u got ready huge budget den u can do all de mod one short but slowly will be as effective to 1st understand yr car respond and handling and den slowly add on to the upgrade list..

Good luck and happy modding!

Regards,
Mike
