VW Old Beetle

if i'm not mistaken all blocks are same..just the difference is at the bore size, stroke length and some internal parts..anything else is quite the same

correct me if i'm wrong..

vwmania...mana ada...pocket sudah berlubang laa sekarang....dah la tengah study... belajar lagi penting..masa start kerja baru slowly mod... atau beli satu lagi... sebab ini bukan kereta saya..

Dear MancCell,

With standard steel wheels, you can't go beyond 195 width tyres, man! 165/80 tyres are available from Hankook, Nankang as well as NOS Dunlops...if U can find them.80 series tyres are ok upfront, no probs.

If U are serious about building an engine beyond 2 litres in capacity, contemplate getting a big bore block from one of the reputable parts suppliers in the States. No point boring your own block and destroying it accidently.

itu kereta sapa?

OK, will go for the 195's but will look for a slimmer tyre at the front. Going for a Drag look.

Just keeping the options of a bigger motor in the back of my mind. Priority at the moment is to get the mechanicals of the car reliable. I've seen some aftermarket shops is the VW mags for cases and cranks, but is there anyone that you can recommend? I'm new to all this stuff.

uuh..bad news for me..my dad 'tarik balik' my bug becos there's some problems with the brakes (still use four drums)..need to re adjust (although just readjust it 6 months ago)..some more the wiring for the lamp still teruk..tried to fix the front lamp, but end up as a strobe light (low beam, left only, hi beam right only)..geez..

big bore VW engines eh?
it can be done in malaysia, but have to prepare cash about 20K for parts.

Anybody wana go for 2332cc, i have a crankshaft for sale. 84mm by CB Performance. i used to have all the parts for this engine, new case, crank, rods, cam, pump, filter, cooler, clutch, EFI throttle bodies, MSD, crank trigger, welded fan Dellorto 48s, but sold off everything now left the crankshsft and carbs. the guy(s) who bought my parts are in the making of building some serious HP engine, but still in progress.

there is also a couple of turbochharged engines around.

Biggest bore you can go with a stock Type 1 case is 94mm.

94mm bore and 84mm stroke gives you 2332cc.

there is a car with an 86 and 88mm stroke running around for quite some time already.

Ordering from states is not as easy as you think. you must know what you want, how fast you wana go, how much ou can afford.

the most expensive items are the cylinder heads.

How bout induction and carburation or Injection? they are expensive.

Going big bore , big CC, high horsepower in a Beetle or aircooled engine is very expensive. easily 20K.
