Hello,

who has good experience in this field? I am renovating my newly bought terrace house and want to put new tiles in the kitchen and bathroom but don't know how. I wwould like to do it myself like I did with the piping systems.

What should I use to glue the tiles to the wall? is it just normal cement or glue cement (cement gam) or a mixture of these 2? what is the ratio? what else should I need to know? Thanks.

yo,u need cement n cement gum for ur tiles, get a proper tukang to do ur tiling n pipes.for the cement u would need more cement then cement gum ...cement 70-78% CEMENT GUM 20-25%

alittle off topic ... coz i dont have any advice on how to put the tiles, just a Q... how much do you save by DIY it?

depends on ur size la,semenanjung price for workmanship very high....but then depends on ur area la....say about 20 kali 40 i say about Rm500-800...if urself...do no t nice but then say alot of money lo

my bathroom 5.5' by 8.5' and 7.5' high. About 30% completed (before I fired the dude that was working on it). A couple of guys came over and gave estimation ranging from 700 to 1500- labor only.

Anyway, thanks for you all advice. I will do it myself, I don't think it is that hard, only time consuming.

your bathroom floor is 46sq.ft and wall 63sq.ft (depend on how many wall u wanna tile), total is 298sq.ft. so labour should be RM2.00 to 4.00 depend on the material u provide or they provide!!!

actually, tiling is not so hard but make sure u ready all the tools!!! tile cutter and tile pen cutter!

u must mark it square on the wall and a crossline which really square v the square which u been mark!! if anything not CHUN sure salah at last!!!!

on my opinion, if u affortable to pay just let ppls do it for u!! cause if u DIY, u will spend money on the tools n etc which after u done the tools is unuseful or lelong it!!!!

our experience is using pure cement is enough no need cement gum!!! during u doing ur floor tile, before u do it better put the waterproofing gum!!! this is only for double storey hse lar!!!

Comparing malaysian labour with australia on a dollar to dollar basis, some of my friends have said that malaysian labour is cheaper. But then, malaysian labour in most cases sucks. They simply do it, get paid and leave. When you tell them that it's not done nicely, they will have lots to say and show you shit face. hahaha

Hi all,

the lady from the hardware store recommend me one chinese guy. i called him, he came over and have a look at the bathroom and made comments on job left by the indon worker. before he gave me quotation, he spent about 10 minutes measuring/leveling the walls and floor. (previous guys only came and had a glance and gave price). He estimated 5 days will complete the job RM750. Hope this guy will do it right...seemed like the right guy...
