Throttle Controller

Btw anyone has any suggestion, which one is the best throttle controller module?

Only come across Shadow ETC, and another which is M7 Japan ETC which is totally out of my budget range. Whereby u might think that you can use that amount of money to upgrade lots of things instead.

How much is the Shadow? Is it good enough? China/Taiwan made is it? How about the Pivot one?

can reduce lag ah?
thought that it only change throttle mapping..

aside from the variable setting, is it the same as we adjust the throttle potentiometer?

Not sure bro, haven't had the budget to try any of it yet. But intend to get one. A good experienced to see what it does

If in terms of just brand, of course Pivot is better. But results wise, I can't tell. Have to wait for
those who have tried to comment.

Throttle controller was designed for those people who had their fuel pedal return spring replaced with tomei or etc aftermarket cylinder valve spring. Or those who has antique car but forgot to change the rusted pedal after swapping modern engine. For normal car, want accelerate just push full throttle. In this scenario, both the stock and the aftermarket controller peak at the same point so if you press full throttle, with or without the controller, there will be no different. You can pull the floor mat backward a bit if it block the pedal after it slipped to the front and if you wanna save the calories for pressing the pedal further 2" so that your tummy can grow fatter, then this will worthwhile to be consider  But I have no intention for discriminate those who like to post sleeping position while driving and caused their legs no long enough to press the pedal.

How many milliseconds will a normal person takes to press the pedal for further 1-2" and how many % from that milliseconds will be effectively increase the performance of the car?

Finally got itchy today and went to Sunway to get one of those throttle controller! I just try the cheapest one first, Shadow E-Drive. Initially was asking for the ori Japan Pivot, but the price is just crazy, more than double the Shadow and almost like piggy back price range! No way I'm gonna pay for that much money without getting real additional horsepower so the cheapest one it is!

Having said that, the result is actually quite good! It does help get the car pick up faster as the pedal becomes more sensitive to the touch, practically eliminates the lag. It's like having an engine which have been tuned to very advanced ignition timing without the risk of knocking!

There are 5 settings for eco mode, 1 normal/by pass setting, and 9 settings level for power mode. So far I've only tried the power settings from 4-9 and the pedal gets more aggressive/sensitive to the touch every time the setting is increased. However using the max setting 9 might not be the best after all since it becomes too sensitive, feels a bit unnatural already and it makes the A/T kick down a bit too soon. So probably the best is around 5-7. Note that for other brands, there are only up to 7 settings for the Sport/power mode, while Eco & normal are the same.

Installation seems very straight forward as there's already plug & play harness, so no need to cut wires. However for some cars may need to have OBDII scanner tool to get rid of check engine error code. (I saw this happened for Cruze which were installed before mine, and the technician spent some time to fix, check and test drive to make sure all ok, and he said for the Cruze it's always like that). As for my car, no check engine issue at all, everything went smooth.

So my conclusion so far, it's actually quite a good & useful purchase for less than rm400.
