Toyota's GM deal gives it stake in Subaru parent (since Yota bought off GM's shares)

The rumours are true: Subaru's Lafayette, Ind., will begin building the next-generation Toyota Camry in 2007.
The plant began as a Subaru/Isuzu joint venture, from which Isuzu later withdrew. It currently builds the Subaru Legacy/Outback and B9 Tribeca.
A Saab version of the Tribeca was slated to join the production lineup, but was cancelled last year when GM sold its 20 per cent interest in Subaru's parent, Fuji Heavy Industries.
Toyota picked up about half the shares that GM had held, giving it an 8.7 per cent stake in Fuji Heavy.
That investment opened the door to the Camry production arrangement.
Ultimately, Subaru could assemble up to 100,000 Camrys a year at Lafayette.
Most are now made in Georgetown, Ky., although some are imported from Japan.

noting much. should/could mean that subaru sales is/will get smaller or camry gets subaru quality.

in the end it will translate the seemingly unending goal of yota in world domination

it would be nicer to see WRC corolla or the return of GT4 celica with subaru know how as parthers!!!

twin brothers at FIA WRC!! whaa

Subaru Camry with 280PS boxer engine + 4WD wow...

not likely. camry built on that plant yes but my guess is the subaru plant worker will be bored. hehehe

"tsk, tsk. all these while we been building rally monsters but now; comfy camry's ...zzzzzzzzzz" :baring_teeth:

It simply means Toyota will use Subaru's facilities to build their Camry thats all.

There's no mention of a tie up or joint venture to build a common car or share vehicle parts. Fat chance that we're gonna see a Camry with Subaru's boxer.

Toyota would still want to remain its identity of Camry as an executive comfortable car.
