As you all know, most Proton cars has this "disease" of rust appearing on the roof of the car. It is due to the glue that is used to stick the roof to the frame that is too "salty".

as far as i know, one way to treat it is to remove the glue and replace it with glue that will not cause corrosion on the roof.

anyone know what's the suitable glue to use??

can i use those black silicon (use to stick windscreen)??

i spotted a few small spots of rust....beginning stage. so i guess it's better for me to replace the salty glue ASAP.

anyone has done it before?

yup, a lot of people will just send it for re-spray.

but that is just solving the surface of the problem....few months later, the rust will appear again.

it's better to solve it from the root of the problem, that is to replace the glue since my problem is only at the beginning stage.

for those newly proton car owner, pls send ur car to workshop or acc shop to remove the silicone that stick on the roof...and replace it to other material.....

if u can see ur roof got rust stain, then u can forget to replace the glue..cos it is useless..the only alternative is respray the roof..but , find a good paint shop to do it
