I was in Dusseldorf, Germany and by chance I bumped into this gorgeous supercar. I was not expecting the French parade to drop by. It was the Dusseldorf Frankreichfest (Dusseldorf French Festival) and there were tons of classic French cars on display, including the famous Renault Turbo 5. (which unfortunately, due to my SD card crash, I've lost all the high quality photos and the beautiful sound from the Renault 5 Turbo).
Alpine being a seperate car builder, specialises in building faster Renaults and really cool designs, made this iconic car in the 1970s and was produced until 1984. The Alpine A310 came with either a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder engine or the PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) 2.7 V6 engine, that was famous for powering many French and Volvo made cars between the 70s to the 80s. The same engine was also famed for powering the Delorean DMC-12, which was the famous back to the future car. This was definitely a very versatile engine back then.
The Alpine A310 has a similar driving characteristics of a Porsche 911, being weight biased at the back. It had several racing histories, coming from the fact that it won the French Rally Championship in 1977.
French cars are definitely very rare to be spotted here and not often appreciated by others. I definitely loved this car, considering it was the same car, that the heroes in the anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion has driven. Enjoy the front shot of this iconic car!
