Gooseman,

To be safe, do a complete service on the car if you don't know the service history.

Change all the fluids (engine oil, tranny, differentials, AYC, coolant, brake fluids, etc) before you do any testing.

These fluids can show symptoms of potential problems and it's always good practice to do it for any used car you pick up.

Timing belt, if the owner cannot give you documented proof of the last change, change it immediately. It's hard to tell without receipts and if you're going to take it apart to check, you may as well get it changed while you're at it. This is something you don't want to take chances with since a slipped or snapped belt will quite likely cost you a fortune.

Just to add, since you're meeting up with the JB MLOC guys, why not borrow their coil packs and run it on your car, just to eliminate that as a potential issue. It'll take you less than 5 minutes to swap it over.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's probably just a fouled or worn spark plug (the one that's stuck!). Your biggest worry should actually be trying to get that plug out. If it's fused, then you risk stripping the threads in the cylinder head, which can be one big headache. Lube it, WD40 it, anti seize it, whatever, but don't just rely on brute force cos once you strip the threads, there's no way to get your new plug seated properly and it'll quite likely pop out once you start to boost.

This is the reason why I don't like long-life plugs, you only increase the risk of a seized plug when you leave it in there for so long.

that's my worry... how to remove that old plug... and that's why i don't use long life plugs too.... Had that experience before.... I think it's even harder now to get a 4G63 E4 head.....

You won't need IV-specific cylinder head, any of the IV-onwards 4G63 heads will fit.

gooseman, yes we know well the previos owner, in fact before he sold his car, a lot of goodies from his ride i buy from him... but as far as i know, b4 he sold his car, the car is in good condition, even the engine is cleaner than mine.. hehe...

Tonite there'll be a meet-up amongs MLOC in JB... as for me i dunno wheter i can join or not.. my car still in the workshop... if can i'll meet you guy up at petronas tampoi...
