open pod vs drop in @ the classic battle of filters

hie guys,
need some advice from you peepz cos m a newbie at car modding....
i drive a wira se... wanna change filter....
whic would be a better bet, an open pod or drop in?
wat are the pro's n cons of each?
how muc of a difference does it make?
whic one wont makan the petrol soo much (cos petrol price gonna go thru da roof anyday hehehe).....
wat brands to look at?
will the filter type make a difference on the FC when i put a bullet?
