i think the change of lube only happen before F1 have engine and petrol restriction. It no longer happen this year. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ferrari used to have 1 engine for qualifying and 1 engine for racing.

no the lube changing thing was this year...jus forgot whether it happended before or after sepang...

butthead, there doesn't seem to be any markings at all. it's just a yellow barrel, addressed from Shell UK and forwarded to FERRARI AT SEPANG GP, MALAYSIA.


blacksamurai, good point. but does the new ruling encompass changing the engine oil as well?

no it does not...as it is hard to govern engine oils used by the teams...engine oils is the only lubrication that are extracted and pump back into the engine for heating up the oil...so the engines would not start cold...

but i am quite sure Ferrari did use a special oil for qualifying...

nope...no facts to support it...but i think i heard it from somewhere...jus can't remember...

butthead, i went through FIA website. Found that there is no rules restriction for changing engine oil during qualifying/race.

But I also never heard that Ferrari using different engine oil for qualifying too. :)
we shall find some fact. :)
